You can warm canned soups, water, etc. easily on a fondue set with just several tea light candles. If there is no power, having a fondue set will be very handy.

An interesting suggestion, thanks PS. And if I'm not mistaken you can find them on clearance quite often.

I think you can even find one as low as $10.

Good idea. We've had one on our shelf for years. Never even thought about it in a survival situation.

Oh LOL - I just put ours in the donation box in the garage as we have not used it in 10 years. Thanks for this post - back in the cabinet it goes!

And those empty cans that are leftover after the food is eaten? Save them - they might come in handy. That metal lid makes a good scraper or even a cutting tool. The can can be used as a small pot for awhile. I have a can of sterno in my car plus a can of bean soup. If I need to heat the soup I will rig up some rocks around the sterno can to act as a "pot" holder. -R |

I have saved many sized tins cans...but please be careful I have noticed that the new ones have a white plastic layer inside of them now and might not be good to use to reheat food..also buy some sturdy wire and make a hole on eighter side of the can and fashion a handle...all my BOB bags have a tine can with a handle on them...
