I'm watching it right now. Scary indeed! It's wierd to see it on TV played out like this. Glad I logged on when I did. Would've missed it otherwise.

Our local Fox Station seems to not be carrying it?

I found a link to something called FNC -  WTF?  So it's only being broadcast to cable and/or satellite subscribers?  I don't see a way to stream video from their site, either.

Sigh, I should just break down and pirate it.  Aaarrrr, matey.

Bummer.  I did not glean from earlier announcements that the program was being aired over "subscription only" outlets.  It sounded like regular Fox stations would carry it.  Never even heard of "FNC" before.

Bruss... I'm shocked!  FNC is the top rated cable news channel in America.  Their slogan.... Fair and Balanced.  But yes, it is subscription only.

I watched both Fox and National Geographic specials.  The only thing that can save us is, as soon as we hear its gone h2h is to quarantine ourselves and let no one, from the outside world, in.  No bartering for me, that's for sure!  This thing is killing people just like the Ebola virus, bleeding from inside out!  AND, it's not just the lungs that are affected, all internal organs bleed out.  So, we are not even safe if we've had the pneumonia vaccine.

LITANY AGAINST FEAR

I must not fear.
Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing.
Only I will remain.

He was a loud and widely heard voice that decried the failure of all levels of the governmental response.  His coverage from the overpass will stay with me for a long, long time.

I always thought he was just a pretty boy anchor until that week.  He turned out to be about the only news reporter willing to stand in the middle of that hell hole.

He told, and showed, it as it was.  I feared for his life several times but he never backed down.  I also don't remember ever seeing a reporter so emotionally affected by the unfolding story.

First, the Fox show will be repeated later tonight.  1 am EST I think.

Synopsis : Newt looking somber.  Describes a `fictionalized' pandemic starting in Asia, and being brought to this country by a businesman. Spreads rapidly. No way to contain it.  Compares the social unrest to New Orleans after Katrina, but nationwide.  Made it clear that the infrastucture, food deliveries, and law and order were in peril.

Stressed that no vaccine would be available for 8 -12 months. Tamiflu in short supply.  Hospitals overrun.  Millions dead.

Surprisingly, not overly hyped.  A bit political towards the end, pushing for indemnity for vaccine manufacturers.  Repeating over and over again that while it may not happen soon, it is virtually inevitable.

Coulda used better experts. (The national geographic show was better in that regard).  Spent a few minutes on Swine Flu, but not much.

Sobering.  Nothing members here don't know. But a bit amazing to hear it on a MSM station.

Stormriderfla, was your Litany Against Fear directed at me, since you put it in directly after my post?  If so, I must ask you to please not judge me so harshly.  I have no fear!  I have been ill with Epstein Barr Virus for the last 3 years and the complications from it have almost killed me several times.  There have been times when I was so sick, I begged God to take me out of here.  I was hospitalized twice last year from complications and almost died from dehydration.  I have a post on here called Viruses are Very Scary, hoping that it would help people on here to tell their family and friends who don't take viruses seriously.  I'm a Christian and am not afraid to die.  However, since I already suffer from a nasty virus, if this thing goes h2h, I really don't want to die that way.  I want to go quick!  The people who have died from this have suffered horribly and I really do not look forward to dying like that, if it's my time to go.  Also, forgive me, in advance, if I have offended anyone because I spoke about my Christianity.

Pebbles,

I must have misread a fatalistic tone, my mistake. I feel fear and this is one way I handle it, Hokey...maybe but in my universe of experiences it works. I guess the old saying " never share a Rx"  is right. No offence intended. -K

Besides - I prefer the Ghola' Hymn.

No bitter stench of funeral-still for Muad'dib. No knell nor solemn rite to free the mind From avaricious shadows. He is the fool saint, The golden stranger living forever On the edge of reason. Let your guard fall and he is there! His crimson peace and sovereign pallor Strike into our universe on prophetic webs To the verge, of a quiet glance -- there! Out of bristling star-jungles: Mysterious, lethal, an oracle without eyes, Catspaw of prophecy, whose voice never dies! Shai-hulud, he awaits thee upon a strand Where couples walk and fix, eye to eye, The delicious ennui of love. He strides through the long cavern of time, Scattering the fool-self of his dream.

I've always liked that one...maybe it's apt now and applies to many of us in attempting to spread the word to others...

I watched the Fox News Special and so did my parents. They used to tell me I was paranoid and I didn't need to worry so much. After watching this tonight, they said they are going out tomorrow to start buying food and water.  I guess it took greater news coverage to convince them. Hopefully, it has convinced many other people as well!!!!

Maybe next time we can issue a forum wide announcement telling everybody what time the special airs.

Bruss is too funny..... he works here 24/7 and he takes a 1 hour break and he misses the whole thing.

Back to the topic at hand......

I was shocked that Newt Gingrich (in their hypothetical doomsday scenario) actually mentioned that most countries will go to great lengths to cover up initial outbreaks - And they will also hide the initial human to human outbreak that signifies that the final H2H mutation has taken place.  The poor countries do this because they really have no choice, otherwise, their fragile economies based on the poultry market will be destroyed.

They also mentioned that the WHO states with 100% certainty that there has never been a single case of Human to human transmission, with the possible exception to a case in 2005.

I love shep Smith also. I always watched him. But never knew how intelegent he is. When they let him loose from the teleprompter..look out!! He is like wild fire, He answers all the questions that I want answered. Tony Snow took over his weekend shows. Just last week. I hope it s just because of all the rearanging they are doing since a few people left.

HEY!! I resemble that remark!!  Actually it's not thru inattention but my unwillingness to shell out money for "entertainment" that led to my missing it.  Go figure, a guy will plunk down $65 a month for fiber optic internet, but won't shell out $30 a month for cable TV.  Guess that's cause for nomination to the Geek Club for sure.
