Cancel the World Cup?From WorldCupLatest.com, not a regular source of flu news: World Cup Finals Could Be Cancelled If Avian Flu Pandemic Breaks Out In Germany.
Well, it's doomsaying to soccer fans, of whom I am one. But it makes absolute sense. Bringing thousands of people together from all over the world, mixing them in compact crowds, and sending them home again would be a disaster if H2H were in Germany. It would be the peacetime equivalent of soldiers in the trenches going home to spread the Spanish flu. |

In the event of the pandemic arriving, most countries have plans to cancel most mass-gatherings, which will involve all stadium sports pretty much. Whether they activate thee plans really depends on the sickness & daethrate I presume.
I dont really think its a German issue, doesnt matter where the world cup is. Because if they are talking about proper pandemic it would be very weird if its just a 'german pandemic'. On the otherhand maybe they are saying the world cup might get cancelled if many germans get bird-flu from birds, rather than whent he proper pandemic has begun? |
