In the UK, every single swine flu victim is reported as having "underlying health issues" - and I mean all of them, no exceptions. When asked what the underlying health isssue was in any case, there is never an answer.

The "underlying health issues" comment is cited so many times that people are now seeing it for what it is - which is that this flu is more serious than they want you to know and there are no underlying health issues in any of the cases.

I notice that there is a complete lack of information anywhere on the real spread of it or the mortality rate. So far my wife and I know of two people who have it - that is, not through media - but people we know of personally.

Another thing to note iis the UK policy is for people to be diagnosed over the phone and to have Tamifu deliveredd to their house - I know of several cases where this does not happen and it will obviously get worse. In a few weeks time, it is predicted that there wwill be over 100,000 new cases each day in the UK. It would not be possible for these to be diagnosed over the phone - not possible and I guarantee, none of them will be sent any Tamifu.

Chris,
Unless the family gives permission many times it is not legal to indentify what the underlying health problems are. At this point, many more people have it then are dying of it. You can look at the numbers of those who have it vs the ones dying of it, to see that it is not at a high rate of death yet.

I have a underlying health problem and you would never know it if you were my nieghbor, so does my husband and you would not know that he does either or my son, or my oldest son.

The underlying problems do not hav to be deadly serious, unless you see someone use a inhaler for asthma, and they are not on oxygen, they appear normal but their lungs have a harder time with the flu.

I beieve that Tamiflu delivered to the house seems like a excellent idea if it works, it keeps the sick in. Not infecting others and others not co infecting the sick. You have forty eight hours to begin Tamiflu, could it be possible that some people will get theirs delievered in a few hours or the following day?

Keep us posted. We need to know if these things that are being told to us that are going to happen actually do.

Hi, yes, my concern is - what are these underlying health problems? I would put good money on them not having to be that serious in many cases. I also believe that in many cases, there are no underlying health problems - they probably had dyslexia or were colour blind, but the govt dont want people to know that this flu can just sometimes kill perfectly healthy individuals.

As for the Tamifu being delivered to homes of the ill - sounds like a good idea, but already, there have been many cases come to light where people have been diagnosed with swine flu over the phone, then been given no advice and had no Tamifu delivered - one of these was a pregnant woman!

If this does get to the stage where 100,000 new cases pop up every day, it wont be possible to deliver tamifu - the system isnt working now, so wont work then.

I understand you do not want to cause panic, but we need to face facts, you need to have Tamifu supplies now, ready in your house. Evidence shows, Tamiflu needs to be taken within the first 24 hours of flu symptoms in order to be most effective. People will only contact NHS Direct (telephone diagnosis) when they are ill enough to suspect they have flu. I cant see how Tamifu could be sent to them any faster than 24 hours from then - knowing the NHS, it would probably take far longer.
