Johnny, the quote from Happiness is from a friend of ours who is down in Brazil in the middle of it. The info is from the docs at the hospital . Her husband is still in ICU. Now off the trach support for short periods of time. Estimates to her are 6 weeks recovery. No gov info just from the grassroots.

I had two moms in today both pregnant with deep wet coughs. One at 26 weeks the other at 14 weeks. Their OB would not see them. Got in touch with Epidemilogy here for advice. THey called the OB to see their patients. In the interim of this mess, the kids, clinically have the flu. NOW the sticky part. Did I test? I told the Epi person no I did not. You (the epi person) told me last week not to. are you now changing your mind. WElll..in a pregnant woman we would test but WE ARE OUT OF THE RAPID TESTS. But I only have 48 hrs to start the meds the PCR will take three days. Treat or not...So then the answer was, THe risk to the fetus at 14 weeks too high even tho that mom was the sicker. 26 weeks treat the mom is at higher risk and both could die..

RC,this is really none of my business and I have never had a problem with you.But I do not know why drd has not responded to your advice. He is probably to nice of a guy. drd took two patients that their doctor who should have seen them, was afraid to.I would also have been afraid to. But drd took on this resposibility, mostly likely out of a sense of duty.He will make his own determination of what to do with what he has avalible to work with. Any doctor who does not at least occssionally call another doctor ,in another field, for advice,is probably not doing his job. I know that I have called specialists many times, instead of guessing. I quess what I am saying is,he is the drd treating these patient, even with advice from some other doctor, drd is still in charge and still responsible. He does not need your advice or mine.If he does,he will call and ask for it. What you have written is insulting to drd. Are you a doctor or some one that thinks that they know everything.Johnray1

hope4bestprep4wrat, I know that and I did not intend to leave the lady docs out. When I refer to any one as a doctor,at least in my mind, there is no male or female attached to that. Johnray1

Johnray1 and anyone else I may have inadvertently offended
Please accept my apologies, I must have been a little tired last night and regretted writing this soon after I wrote it. I know you know there are women docs, I just thought you didn't know that Dr. d is a woman (or so it has been posted here) so I was cleverly (sic) pointing it out. I think I should go back to lurking, I apologize again. I appreciate what you, RC, Med and everyone else does here to try to help but find that I am not contributing so much and usually annoying :) I think I will sit back and learn. Of course you know there are women in medicine. apologies again. |

RC no duh OF COURSE I exhausted all other avenues. Including getting the Medical head of the epi section involved. She was able to get a fire lit and the two ladies have been taken care of. HOWEVER..there are NO rapids readily available at the health dept or at any other MDs office at the present time. Even Quest and Labcorp reported that they were out of them.

Girl or Boy doctors.....doesn't matter glad to see them on board with us here. Really is great to have such good caring and committed souls. A big THANK YOU to all of you medical and clinical professionals who offer some good ideas and posts. Tip ;-)
Here is a little riddle attachment.
One night there was a father and son in auto accident both were rushed to the ER. They wheeled in the boy to surgery...the surgeon took one look at the boy and said: "Wait I can't operate on this boy he is my son". Who is the surgeon? any takers? Tip.

Dr. John got it. Skye running a fever. Isn't this summer? Labcorp ... We may be seeing second wave. Yea, me too.. always surrounded by kids- we live in a small mini mansion.. and summertime this is playground central. Downstairs - I am at home is an afternoon at where to go when people are bored. I have ceased trying to avoid it. So half the family on side we are urging to SIP- as in - do not come over.. okay. Are you in peds Dr. D. What's the deal here? What is this August bug? A fair share of GI stuff- temps- I am stressed about Skye...As his dad does, could go up to 105- and then we will have to swab him down with alcohol. Anything happening in your neck of the woods? Med...alcohol is not what you need to do you need to wipe the child down with tepid wash cloths or put into a tepid bathtub. Never alcohol it could shock the child at least this is what my pediatrician told me to do.

mine said the SAME thing :) and not to immerse them either as it is too much...just parts of the body....like keep the upper part coverd and one leg while using the tepid washcloth (soft) on one leg... put the sheet over that leg... do the next. |

Mary and Flumom,
It is nice to get such good advise from you ladies. I had also heard that a long time ago about the tepid bath with partial cover, I had forgotten it somewhere along the line raising the five kids. I have the one child left and he will hopefully not need that, but if he does I at least have been reminded by you what the correct thing to do is. Debbie
