The Regional Medical Center in San Jose, Calif., has set up a flu tent near its emergency room to treat patients, as the highly infectious virus has become more widespread throughout the region.

I saw that on the news yesterday, they are taking precautions as not to spread it to the other hospital visitors.
Be prepared! It may be time....^_^v

Is it any wonder Coyote, that living less than a hundred miles from this and seeing first hand the devastating effect of the Flu as it continues to spread.

Hi hachiban, congrats on graduating by the way.

Unfortunately the tent is not set up to stop the virus from spreading, it's because the hospital is full and overcrowded so the tent is to provide extra triage space. The "emergency room is overflowing" according to the article, which is usually an important sign to watch for.  Not sure I even remember that during the 2009 pandemic. Bad news...

No, Albert, to my knowledge even at the height of the Pandemic (and I was at this medical center for some of it) there wasn't a tent. The hospital had been rebuilt with a large capacity to handle patients and a waiting room I had to stay in all night.

No surprises here. It is what we expected -- at least many of us -- I used to work there.

but also the comprehensive resources of a major medical facility, including a Level I Trauma Center.

Thanks for the congratulations, Albert :) Hope you've been well. Oh really? I thought they said on the news yesterday that it was because they didn't want to spread it. Weird, hmm. I know that during the 2009 pandemic, my university had to make a quarantine dorm, and put all the sick students in the same dormitory halls until the illness subsided.

In 2009 there were tents set up in the parking lots of all the hospitals in Houston.
