Hi all,

suppose this virus doesn't go H2H in, say the next 4 months,
will you go on vacation this summer?

I was asked today at work when I will be going, so that they can plan it in together with the vacation of my co-workers.....

In the US you will be having spring-break soon, right?
Are you planning on going anywhere or will you be staying home, close to your preps....?

I've been so busy with prepping and reading about BF the last couple of months, that I find it hard to focus on 'normal' things.....
But what if the virus doesn't go H2H at all this year, or the next...
How long will we put our 'normal' lives on hold waiting for H2H to happen??

Would like to hear your thoughts about this!

Marjo

We don't go on vacations due to our animals and not having anyone to look after them. Even if I could go on vacation, I wouldn't this year. I am sticking as close to the house and my preps as possible. Besides, with all the extra $$ I'm spending on preps, who has money for a vacation??
Don't put off tomorrow what you can PREP today

My family & I are going on a week long ski trip in the mts. of Montana in 10 days.

While I'm looking forward to taking time off from work, at the same time, I'm kinda nervous about taking time off from prepping.

Perhaps this is exactly the diversion I need right now.

If our vacation was scheduled for the summer, I don't know if I'd dare go or not.   One can always make plans &  then watch & see what happens.  If things keep heating up as they have been, you could always cancel your vacation plans at that time.

In the meantime, I'd keep prepping.

God help us all...

It's weird living in two worlds (well, at least two). I'm going ahead and planning on vacation the first week of June. If the sh*t hasn't hit the proverbial fan yet, I'll be glad to be getting a break. If it has, then we'll cancel plans. We try really hard to maintain a balance in our lives and we've been under a lot of stress lately. It's nice to be able to think of some time off. -- Libby

I feel like we all have to keep on living and especially enjoying our regular lives as best we can, all the while prepping.  When I see that I have been spending  too much time worrying preparing for the  worst, I try to snap back and celebrate that at least right now I have a great life with a wonderful wife, 2 year old son, and another coming in June.

If it all gets really ugly and sad in the near future, I'll regret not having enjoyed to the fullest these days.

So yeah, plan your vacations. I have no false hopes that science, the goverment, the virus mutating to a less deadly form, etc, may save us, but I am going to hope for the best while planning for the worst.

I hope we all get some time on the beach! In the meantime, Costco!

My wife and I are going on a Caribbean cruise the 1st week of April.  Very much looking forward to it.

We are taking our daughters on a cruise in November.

Vegas in September.

9 days camping in July.

One thing 9 years of preparedness has taught me is you always have to be prepared for nothing to happen, too.   Life life to the fullest.  Don't be so worried about tomorrow that you lose today.

I guess we will see what happens.

Enjoy your holiday, NawtyBits.

My daughter and her hubby and OUR 8 month old baby Granddaughter are going to Hawaii in May.  Unless something else comes up  I think we should all do what we feel comfortable doing.

I'm going to LA in April with my daughter.......a little worried! Will continue to monitor.

I know one thing is for sure.....taking a suitcase of preps like alcohol gel, masks etc. May even wear the mask on the plane. Don't really care if I look silly at this point. Hell it's California right!

My wife and I are booked for St. Maarten in June.  My very close friend is getting married on the beach.  He was my best man and I want to be next to him for his big day.

I hope time is on our side but it doesn't look good Unhappy

It's not so much the apocalypse... but the credit card bills ;-)

Kids and I will be sitting in the canoe across the on the other side of the lake(which is a 2 minute drive from my house) our lines in the water..seeing who can catch the biggest fish...we only do catch and release...oh p.s kids got new poles for birthdays they are just waiting to try them out..

This is what we usually do every summer,

The one summer I was able to go on a trip i took the kids to New Jersey to see the ocean, thats when the hydro was down for a long period of time..and here I was stuck in Jersey and all these food preps at home..

Think I,ll stay close just in case....of course for any fisherman out there I live in fishermans paradise...

I have a serious question about prepping. I am going on vacation, and have
prepped. Aside from worrying about the timing of this thing hitting, why do
you need to do continuing prepping"taking time off from prepping"? What
are people doing to keep prepping? As far as I can see, you prep, and go on
and enjoy life and keep an eye on the news.

I tried putting my daughter, partner and my precious grandson from going
on hols. to Spain recently with no effect. They think I'm a loony. They are
back safe though.

I have managed to get them to postpone a trip to Greece and Egypt next
year until they know how this is going to pan out. I am getting somewhere.

O.K , .... I know you guys are going to freak out  !! I am going on a transatlantic cruise on April 30,living from ft.Lauderdale Florida ,16 days we are going to :Azores islands in Portugal , Ireland . London , Paris , Amsterdam ,Oslo ,in Norway , and then spending 2 days in Copenhagen Denmark ,.....I know you guys must be thinking I am crazy but we planned this trip over 4 month ago and everything is already paid for ! I did purchase the travel insurance with Princess cruises in case of cancellation we would be loosing 25% .

Yes I am very scared !  but for now I am not canceling ! you know 2 years ago I went for 2 month on a very long trip whit my mother around the world , this was after 9-11 ,we went to a lot of strange places like china ,India ,Oman , Jordan , Egypt ,turkey etc... but I wasn't going to let the terrorists win by not going just because something could have happened , this is exactly how  i feel now ,I am monitoring the situation ,my preparations are 85% done I will be taking Tamiflu ,globes , masks , etc..

Pola...Globes?

I have to give you credit for continuing to live your life in spite of all the threats these days.

I hope you have a fantastic time on your trip & that you can enjoy yourself & not worry about BF for awhile.

The only thing I can suggest regarding vacation plans is to keep an eye
on Europe, especially England for any human outbreaks. My feeling is that
once their is a human case reported England, countries will be forced to
respond swiftly and will institute some form of screening or travel
restrictions at airports.

I was at a local airport a few weeks ago. There was a report of sick
passengers landing from an international flight. I saw four ambulances
parked outside.

The paramedics were dressed with masks gloves and gowns. The N95's
and gowns are not the norm, in my neck of the woods - turned out to be
bad airline food.

I found a good website offering educational posters (including tips for travelling) as well protective clothing (masks etc) if anyone is looking for this type of info (www.safetyshop.com).

This spring break, we're packing up and leaving southern california and moving to denver, where we feel we will be much safer for a pandemic situation.
