2005 may go down in history as the year of disasters.

Although technically not in 2005, we had the Indonesian tsunami 12/26/04 killing upwards of 300,000 and rendering homeless countless others.  The world rallied to aid their recovery.  The incident happened in 2004 but world response took place in 2005.

Major earthquakes in India/Pakistan/Iran

US hurricanes.  2005 saw the worst year on record for number of storms, dollar value of damage, the number killed and the largest evacuation in peace-time history.

India saw devastating flooding, as did China.

On a smaller scale, we had a major ice storm in the South leaving 200,000 without power.  Some didn't have power restored for four weeks.  Currently we are watching California deal with a series of storms that contain hurricane force winds and rains of almost unimaginable amounts...14 inches in 24 hours.  We have fires in several states where people are loosing their homes, and even lives.  People are having to leave their homes and possessions to the vagaries of Mother Nature.

My point here is: Who will respond to disasters during a pandemic?  Where will evacuees go?  Where will the medical assistance that is always taxed during a disaster come from?

Do you have a plan in place if you are driven from your home due to a natural disaster?  Do you live in a place prone to the big four: Hurricane, Earthquake, Fire, Flood?  I live in an area historically threatened by two of the four.  Lucky me.

Shophia...don't forget a major terror attack!  I heard someday there maybe suitcase bombs placed in many major cities to go off at the same time.  I feel people in this day and age can not depend on the government.  They must have their own disaster plans in place.

I live in SW PA and sometimes we are hit with major snow storms.  So in the winter months you stock up on food, toilet paper, etc. to last you for a few days if you get snowed in.  I live out in the country so I have a SUV and good snow tires.  We, also, have snow shoes to help us get to our barn when the snow is very deep.   It pays to be prepared!

You ladies don't fret! Super Flu Man will swoop down and rescue y'all.

Look up in the sky! It's a bird! It's a plane! no it's Super Flu Man!

You will recognize him also because he wares a mask. (A Surgical mask.) He also wears latex gloves and has a side kick named Clorox.

That's about all the help we can count on.

Ah yes young one, we must have the wisdom to accept what we can't change, strength to change what we can, wisdom to know the difference, and laughter to deal with both of them.

What does not kill you, will make you stronger for enduring it.

Nope, Fema Man cannot save us. Fema Man is rightly named so cause he suffers from  FEMAnine Itch. A condition given to him by Wonder Woman.

Anyway Fema Man is powerless because he is too busy scratching. His recue belt he wares on his side is full of  calomine lotion, tucks pads and hydrocortisone. All uneffective aganist BF.

What Fema Man can do is show up at the site of a disaster and issue IOU's and make local offical powerless.
