26,000 paramedics, 4,400 doctors to serve pilgrims

MAKKAH — All health facilities in the holy sites and Makkah are ready to serve 1.2 million pilgrims who have arrived in the Kingdom to perform Haj. They will be served by 26,000 paramedics, 4,400 male and female doctors and 15,000 technicians. This came in a press conference Khaled Al-Falih, minister of health, held Thursday.

He said 12,000 open heart surgeries, 203 diagnostic heart catheterization operations and 900 kidney dialyses were conducted. He said 150,000 influenza doses have been made available. Of these, 62,000 doses will be for domestic pilgrims and 22,000 health practitioners have been vaccinated. He further said that the number of injured in the Haram crane crash accident reached 402. Of these, 284 have been released from hospitals, 13 are in intensive care, 74 are in patients care and 31 are minor cases. He said a medical transport network with 180 ambulances has been put in place. Of these, 100 are small and 80 are fully equipped ambulances.
