Evening is descended, winding down. my day of pecking away looking for news to deliver and I guess to give myself a sense of control of the situation even if it is illusionary,is over. Tired of mind and body, absorbing all the unsettling news and the suffering, the feeling of fear and foreboding creeps in of what may be coming down the pike. I always thought of myself as steely, now not so much. Planning and prepping can make you feel ready to a certain degree, but when you think about your own mortality things gets little squirrelly. Evolving everyday.is what life is about, going forward into these unknowing times,Anybody else feeling this way? I'm sure myself and the AFT family will find strength and peace in the days ahead. “You never know how strong you are… until being strong is the only choice you have.” ― Cayla Mills. |

Weariness has a way of breaking down our layers of defense against fear and doubt. I have spent the last 15 years prepping, going to hundreds of disaster planning and emergency management classes and exercises, learning and practicing all I can to try to be ready to help my family and others. This corona virus gives me pause though. I am just getting over a month long cold that I dont even know how I caught and it hit me harder than I care to admit physically. I realized that we can try to control everything all we want, but in the end...nature will do what it has always done.
People like us...the sheepdogs...we dont fall down and give up because there is nobody to pick us up. We are the strong ones, strong because the alternative is not acceptable to us. Stay strong and keep searching, learning, and prepping. QP |

I am feeling a lot of what you describe. But mostly what I'm feeling is frustrated. And a little scared.
I work in a restaurant in a turnpike plaza. I can't even get management to spend the money on gowns, masks and heavy-duty type gloves that are needed to clean the restrooms in normal times, let alone preparing for possibly having people come in, sickened by this coronavirus. They're so concerned with their bottom lines. But the fact is, people can travel from one end of this country to another in a couple days. People like me are on the front lines. Before I came to work at this plaza, I hadn't had the flu since I was 9. Since I came to work here, well, with the way people do such a crappy job staying home when they're sick, washing their hands properly, and handling their coughs and sneezes responsibly, you can imagine how easy it is to get the flu now. It's hard not to be worried about the coronavirus. |

I'm feeling pretty good. We all can do only what we can for ourselves and our families. We are way ahead of the norm of society, both in education, supplies, we won't be as panicked when the time comes (because we've already done that lol) and we know what signs to look for and what actions to take. We know that we cannot rely on the government. We as a group are way ahead of most. So you should feel good about that!

Me three. After flying over the Christmas holidays I ended up getting bacterial bronchitis on January 5th. About a week into it as I was recovering I got a cold on top of it, and I'm definitely not recovered yet. A lot of people in my relatively small town have something that has been taking a month to get over, with the worst symptom being an awful cough. I've thought back on the 3-4 hours spent in the airports in San Diego and Las Vegas with people crammed together because flights had been canceled, and it's impossible not to wonder. what I know for sure is so many people are sick right now that everyone's immune systems are extra vulnerable. Fwiw, I'd been taking elderberry and all the immune system building vitamins and herbs since the beginning of December when I knew I was going to be traveling, and still got really sick. 🤷 |

Tell me about it!
My cold has been accompanied by a bout of shingles and that has been followed around my arm by a nasty bacterium. All in all I'v felt pretty crap! A course of antibiotics, a course of antiviral and that followed by painkillers and an antiviral cream later, I am on the mend, but BOY am I tired. I know shingles attacks the nerves, but my index finger has a shake now on the right hand, I keep typing repeated nnnnnns. Heigh ho, what can't be cured must be endured. |

Both myself and a family member (lives in different house) have been sick 2 weeks plus. I'm feeling ALL of what you guys describe above (except the good - not that!!!) and I'm pushing really hard right now to go thru lists make sure I have as much ready as I can. It's also calving season so up all hours of night checking the girls...
Just not getting over this bug nearly as easily, nor as quickly as I feel I should be. Don't want to be sick/run down if/when this arrives on my doorstep but just feeling so behind in all things I want to be prepared for - how to balance all? I do sneak naps as I can though out day etc, but sure feeling run down! |

Here in NZ we're in high summer right now. Last winter (June, July and August 2019) we had a terrible cough going round here. Almost everyone had it. It lasted for weeks, we felt terrible and it took ages to get over it, feeling fatigued for weeks afterwards. I wonder if that cough/flu has now reached the Northern Hemisphere? |

Those who got it wrong, for whatever reason, may feel defensive and retrench into a position that doesn’t accord with the facts.

That's interesting to know KiwiMum!
And yes, my cough finally stopped about a week ago, but the fatigue is hanging on. |
