The virus is a powderpuff. CFR of 0.3%. close to a bad flu. HOWEVER...

There will be lots with the virus all at once. When word gets out that its a global pandemic. People are going to panic. There will be a run on the banks. The risk is the whole system will implode.

No shit get ready. Don't worry about the virus. Worry about the panic...

But I think that the pressure the illness puts on the medical profession will cause many more deaths due to overwhelming the system. People will die who would, under normal circumstances, live. And not just from flu. From all the other things that people suffer from. Routine and emergency operations may not be possible, treatment for ongoing illnesses like cancer and renal failure may not be possible if the hospitals are overwhelmed and the staff running on a skeleton level due to sickness and the knock on effect will be death for many.
Those who got it wrong, for whatever reason, may feel defensive and retrench into a position that doesn’t accord with the facts.
