A Finnish study, that seems to point out a lot the Dr here has been saying, * masks slow progress of virus, but cannot eliminate its spread. * a fabric mask does not protect the wearer from coronavirus, but can help to protect other people. * the wearer of a fabric mask is several times more likely to contract the virus compared with a person wearing professional protective equipment. * the ability of a cotton mask to filter particles is around 20-30 % while a polyester mask’s filtration rate is about 40-50%.

I have been saying this all along. Wear an 'ordinary' mask out of politeness and an FFP3/N95 for yourself - with a second cover over the valve if it has one, for other people. Nice to see a proper study to confirm it. |
