I tuned out of social media, news and the forums on Wednesday and most of Thursday and feel much better for it. I have family and friends who didn't and swallowed a chitload of drama that I wanted to avoid. I re-entered the wider world to find one had a clear path to victory where the other did not. Which is exactly what I expected. I will admit, I'm surprised that voting is as close as it is. There is no proof of wide-spread voter fraud. Absentee ballots are the last to be counted and are running 60% to 80% in Biden's favor. Once that's done and the states declare, it's a matter of formalities which we won't have until December when the Electorates cast their votes. Best case scenario is Pelosi and Biden approach Trump to make a deal to ease into a peaceful transition. In the mean time wait for the mother of all on-air meltdowns. Not something I'll watch. |

I can't imagine they will fail to be faithful. That would open up a kettle of fish neither Democrats or Republicans would care to deal with. |

I just watched the historical consession speaches of McCainR, Bush SnrR. and Hilary ClintonD. Each one urged unity. McCain, a true American hero IMHO, gave an impassioned speech - against a nasty crowd who were baying for more fight. He turned them around, because he realised that unity of the American people trumps (Ha, ha!) partisan politics; the crowd saw the rightness of it from his words. Republicans are just as patriotic as Democrats. They do not call it the United States of America without good reason. I hope I am wrong, but I can't see Trump doing that (even though, with the coronavirus and its economic ripples, America is in a crisis). I just see him throwing his toys out of the pram. He ruled by division.* I can't see him losing his rule without expanding on it. * Only under Trump have Republicans deviated from accepted behavioural norms, like going armed to protest outside counting stations and intimidating the counters within. Normally they are polite and reasoning. |

How do you tell if a politician is lying?
His lips or pen are moving. |

I said that because I heard on CBS news that one of the strategies that was being bounced around the Trump camp was buying a couple of faithless electors. |
