Chinese health experts call to shun Pfizer’s mRNA-based Covid vaccineBeijing, Jan 15 (IANS) Amid the news of deaths of 23 elderly Norwegian people who received Pfizer’s mRNA-based Covid-19 vaccine, Chinese health experts have called on Norway and other countries to suspend the use of it, especially among elderly people due to the vaccines’ safety uncertainties. According to a Chinese immunologist, the new mRNA vaccine was developed in haste and had never been used on a large scale for the prevention of infectious disease, and its safety had not been confirmed for large-scale use in humans. As of Thursday, Norway has reported 23 deaths in connection with the vaccination, Global Times reported on Friday. “So far, 13 of these have been assessed. Common side effects may have contributed to a severe course in frail elderly people,” the Norwegian Medicines Agency said on its website. All the deaths have occurred in frail, elderly patients in nursing homes. All are over 80 years old and some of them over 90, Norwegian media NRK reported. Two Covid-19 vaccines, Comirnaty, from BioNTec/Pfizer, and Moderna, are used in Norway. The vaccines have been developed on mRNA technology and have received temporary approval in the EU, according to the agency. The Norwegian Medicines Agency admitted that the studies that form the basis for the temporary approval of the vaccine included very few people over the age of 85, and there is little known about how any side effects will affect these age brackets, but it said, “we assume that the side-effects will largely be the same in the elderly as in those over 65 years of age.” Chinese experts said the death incident should be assessed cautiously to understand whether the death was caused by vaccines or other pre-existing conditions of these individuals. – of 85. The Chinese do have their own vaccine Sinovac which isn't a mRNA vaccine like the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines. It's a more traditional type of vaccine. The mRNA vaccines on offer are experimental vaccines that have been given emergency approval, they have not had full certification yet. To my mind this makes them risky. As I see it, the general public are unwittingly signing up to guinea pigs and most of them aren't aware of it. What is key is that the companies producing these vaccines have been given immunity from prosecution in the event of adverse reactions, side effects, long term damage and death. If someone has no legal responsibility then it's giving them a green light to play hard and loose with peoples health and wellbeing. |

Those who got it wrong, for whatever reason, may feel defensive and retrench into a position that doesn’t accord with the facts.

DJ-If in Norway https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/norway/ or https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/norway/ a country with a population of 5,4 million and 517 Covid deaths -even possibly- 29 people die from a (Pfizer-mRNA) vaccine in my opinion that is very alarming !!! We have been ignoring info and science from China before !!! An extra consideration could be the limited effect this (expensive, unpractical) vaccine may have against new variants...It would be nice if the (adeno-based) AstraZeneca/Oxford vaccine could become available soon. Norway is not an EU member so it can make-fast-their own decissions. In many countries people do not get a choice in what vaccine they can get-with news like this less people may be willing to take ANY vaccination...Another strategy could be to vaccinate people around vulnarable people-not the most vulnarables themselves... |
