I think those of us in the UK that have any grasp of the seriousness of a highly transmissible variant are fearing a very bleak January , but we are in a very small minority , it appears that a large number if not even the majority have decided that they only want to hear  "it's Mild" so nothing to worry about. With the "current distractions" surrounding downing street and general level of pandemic fatigue, even if more restrictions are ordered , less people will follow them .

I was out and about with friends last weekend and they could not understand why I was stating that was the last time I was going out socially this year and why I thought anybody going to a packed pub in the week before christmas was mad!! even more so if they then intend to go to a family gathering over christmas.

All we can do is cross everything and hope like hell , that we get lucky as a nation , whilst doing our individual best to limit our exposure.

In London, Omicron accounts for about 1/3rd of cases and the UK is seeing the first hospitalization of people with Omicron, but it is still too early to tell what is the severity (ie Case Fatality Ratio) of the variant.

It looks like it will take out more of those who's immunity is vulnerable......Will any one be safe from this given how it spreads?

Quote .........She said the sheer weight of numbers of people being infected with Omicron means it will find the unvaccinated or people who have had a poor immune response to the vaccine.
