We provide a link to a JAMA network peer-reviewed study that Twitter would prefer you didn’t read.

The study, titled “Association of Prior BNT162b2 COVID-19 Vaccination With Symptomatic SARS-CoV-2 Infection in Children and Adolescents During Omicron Predominance”, gives details of vaccine waning in children.

“Findings  In a test-negative, case-control study conducted from December 2021 to February 2022 during Omicron variant predominance that included 121 952 tests from sites across the US, estimated vaccine effectiveness against symptomatic infection for children 5 to 11 years of age was 60.1% 2 to 4 weeks after dose 2 and 28.9% during month 2 after dose 2. Among adolescents 12 to 15 years of age, estimated vaccine effectiveness was 59.5% 2 to 4 weeks after dose 2 and 16.6% during month 2; estimated booster dose effectiveness in adolescents 2 to 6.5 weeks after the booster was 71.1%.”

Author affiliations for the study are listed as:

also;

“25% of children with COVID develop #LongCovid according to data from 21 studies carried out in Europe, Asia, Australia & South America.” Before yahoos start saying this is “pandemic fatigue”, want to point  out close to 1 in 10 have respiratory symptoms

DJ The story was for most of the pandemic children were "low risk"...MIS-C, Long CoViD simply ignored....

Anyone interested in whether VE vs. severe wanes or not should monitor the situation in Israel. Like last year around June 15, there seems to be something new unraveling. Look at the divide between the vaccinated & not vaccinated compressing: from 1:10 > 1:3 > now almost 1:1.

So https://twitter.com/x2IndSpeculator/status/1534184816941342725/photo/1 or https://twitter.com/x2IndSpeculator/status/1534184816941342725/photo/1 present vaccines do not offer extra protection against present variants ? While the vaccines do bring risks ?

Why there is no open and honest discussion on the ongoing pandemic ? There are "zillions" spent on vaccines-lots of different vaccines-but the outcome may be vaiants only find ways to "get around" immunity...with breaktrough and re-infections increasing...

We need better plans !

I did read this article https://www.theatlantic.com/health/archive/2022/06/under-5-vaccines-approval/661221/ or https://www.theatlantic.com/health/archive/2022/06/under-5-vaccines-approval/661221/ and now ask myself-if I had the responsibility for a (small) child would I get that child vaccinated ?

DJ-There is a lot of discussion on how well most present vaccines protect against the now most common variants (BA.2.12.1, BA.4 and BA.5-with BA.5 getting global dominance).

https://www.coronaheadsup.com/health/vaccine/israel-fifth-covid-19-vaccination-under-consideration/ or https://www.coronaheadsup.com/health/vaccine/israel-fifth-covid-19-vaccination-under-consideration/

A fifth round of Covid vaccinations is under consideration in Israel, according to the Jerusalem Post.

“Due to the increase in the COVID-19 morbidity rate, Israel’s epidemic treatment team will convene on Wednesday to discuss a fifth coronavirus vaccine for at-risk populations, KAN reported.

According to KAN, a third vaccine for Israelis ages five-to-12 is also being considered. It would be optional. Medical staff would be obligated to receive a second or third dose.”

Jerusalem Post report

Israel only announced its fourth round of Covid vaccinations in January 2022, just five months ago.  In calling for more booster vaccinations now, it looks like Israel are already preparing for a winter Covid wave where immunity from existing vaccinations has waned, and where new SARS-CoV-2 variants may have succeeded in bypassing four vaccinations.

Is two or even three Covid vaccinations a year really a sustainable policy?

DJ Worldometers has Israel cases +51%, deaths -67% (21 last week, 7 this week).

I am getting frustrated on why there are still NO nasal vaccines ???

It should be clear by now vaccines will NOT end this pandemic-at best can be part of a strategy-at worst only help creating worse (sub)variants....Long CoViD may by now have effected maybe hundreds of millions of people...It is not only destroying their lives-for years often-but also damaging the economies....

I did take FOUR vaccines two Pfizers, two moderna-boosters...I know a lot of people that did feel ill after getting vaccinated-for a few days. Some vaccines can kill...it is medical intervention...

So-when I can get a fifth vaccine I may have to think about it...what vaccine will it be ? Does it offer protection/help ?

In my opinion the present "vaccines only" strategy is making this pandemic worse ! Do vaccines result in lower immunity for other diseases (even if just for some time-when the vaccine is building immunity against CoViD) ? Again-monkeypox and the links to CoViD (vaccines)...is there a link other then timing ?

I do get the flu-vaccine...how well does a flu vaccine increase "general" immunity ? Could flu-vaccines offer some better protection against CoViD with less risks ?

I would like to see more open and honest info on this...

Vaccinating the world-with three vaccinations per year-seems impossible in my opinion...so lots of questions...

We've got to remember that for the vast majority, Covid is not lethal. It's just a flu like illness for some and a mild cold for others. It's not a slate wiper. There is no point in vaccinating everyone with a non sterilizing vaccine. I'm pretty sure that most people I know have had Covid and for most of those people the most debilitating part of it was the fear. Now that we've all had it and are fine, no one's thinking about it. Been there, done that.

Those who got it wrong, for whatever reason, may feel defensive and retrench into a position that doesn’t accord with the facts.
