In a study released to MedRxiv doctors at the Cleveland clinic have found a link ( positive correlation ) between the number of covid vaccinations a person has taken and their risk of contracting covid-19. Every additional vaccination seems to increase the overall risk of covid infection during the period of the study. No explanation is offered for this correlation. The relative risk of infection compared to an unvaccinated person for the number of vaccines given is:

Code:
1,  x 1.7

2, x 2.36

3, x 3.1

4,  x 3.38

So someone who has had 3 or more doses of covid vaccine was more than three times as likely to be infected with covid, during the study period, than someone who has never been vaccinated. Here is that information in chart form.

From the conclusions of the report:

"The association of increased risk of COVID-19 with higher numbers of prior vaccine doses in our study, was unexpected. A simplistic explanation might be that those who received more doses were more likely to be individuals at higher risk of COVID-19. A small proportion of individuals may have fit this description. However, the majority of subjects in this study were generally young individuals and all were eligible to have received at least 3 doses of vaccine by the study start date, and which they had every opportunity to do. Therefore, those who received fewer than 3 doses (>45% of individuals in the study) were not those ineligible to receive the vaccine, but those who chose not to follow the CDC’s recommendations on remaining updated with COVID-19 vaccination, and one could reasonably expect these individuals to have been more likely to have exhibited higher risk-taking behavior. Despite this, their risk of acquiring COVID-19 was lower than those who received a larger number of prior vaccine dosesThis is not the only study to find a possible association with more prior vaccine doses and higher risk of COVID-19. A large study found that those who had an Omicron variant infection after previously receiving three doses of vaccine had a higher risk of reinfection than those who had an Omicron variant infection after previously receiving two doses of vaccine. Another study found that receipt of two or three doses of a mRNA vaccine following prior COVID-19 was associated with a higher risk of reinfection than receipt of a single dose . We still have a lot to learn about protection from COVID-19 vaccination, and in addition to a vaccine’s effectiveness it is important to examine whether multiple vaccine doses given over time may not be having the beneficial effect that is generally assumed.

In conclusion, this study found an overall modest protective effect of the bivalent vaccine booster against COVID-19, among working-aged adults. The effect of multiple COVID-19 vaccine doses on future risk of COVID-19 needs further study."

Interesting study....One possible explanation I can come up with is "the virus never left"...so some groups may have been infected before vaccination...

The study has several limitations. Individuals with unrecognized prior infection would have been misclassified as previously uninfected. Since prior infection protects against subsequent infection, such misclassification would have resulted in underestimating the protective effect of the vaccine. However, there is little reason to suppose that prior infections would have been missing in the bivalent vaccinated and non-vaccinated states at disproportionate rates. Those who chose to receive the bivalent vaccine might have been more worried about infection and might have been more likely to get tested when they had symptoms, thereby disproportionately detecting more incident infections among those who received the bivalent vaccine. This risk is mitigated by the time-dependent treatment of bivalent vaccination, because with such treatment, risk of disproportionate detection is actually in the opposite direction.

DJ, lots of questions on both safety and effect of vaccines;

FDA publishes study surveillance data finds Pfizer COVID vaccine increases risk of lung blood clots 50%. Not a single major news source reports this If FDA reported any other drug increased lung blood clots 50% can you imagine our media staying silent?

DJ....[url]https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antibody-dependent_enhancement[/url] or https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antibody-dependent_enhancement could be a next step in this ongoing pandemic...

I do not have enough knowledge on vaccines/imunology...(and I did get vaccinated 5 times...would hate it if it increased my healthrisks...) but vaccines as a strategy to end the pandemic seem to have made this pandemic WORSE !!!!

Variants did get better in evading immunity....IF more vaccinated run MORE risks ; This is not the only study to find a possible association with more prior vaccine doses and higher risk of COVID-19. A large study found that those who had an Omicron variant infection after previously receiving three doses of vaccine had a higher risk of reinfection than those who had an Omicron variant infection after previously receiving two doses of vaccine [21]. Another study found that receipt of two or three doses of a mRNA vaccine following prior COVID-19 was associated with a higher risk of reinfection than receipt of a single dose [7]. We still have a lot to learn about protection from COVID-19 vaccination, and in addition to a vaccine’s effectiveness it is important to examine whether multiple vaccine doses given over time may not be having the beneficial effect that is generally assumed.

then the big question is why ???? Vaccine-immunity ends up in becoming MORE vulnerable ?

A-symptomatic, only mild symptoms before vaccinations -could be a weak spot in these kinds of studies....

My conclusion is "vaccines are not the only answer"...maybe nasal/oral vaccines ;

Got my booster today- the new CanSinoBio inhaled vaccine. Super easy, basically comes in a milk tea cup, you inhale, hold it, exhale- done. No taste really. Should improve vaccine rates here, and the efficacy is supposed to be decent.

will do better ? China moving in that direction...

claim boosters still offer (some) protection.....

There is discussion on trying to find a balance between risks of vaccines and risk of infections....Also lots of questions on the very high number of excess deaths...

DJ-There should be info on excess deaths and vaccination-status....My impression-so far-is most of the excess deaths are in the unvaccinated...but that may be "old info"...

Also immunity after vaccination wanes fast...may have "limited use" in elderly and other with "limited immune systems"....

[url]https://nltimes.nl/2023/01/11/dutch-health-council-scraps-advice-vaccinate-healthy-children-covid[/url] or https://nltimes.nl/2023/01/11/dutch-health-council-scraps-advice-vaccinate-healthy-children-covid

The Dutch Health Council dropped its advice to vaccinate healthy children between the ages of 5 and 11 against Covid-19. From now on, the Dutch health services should only invite children who have other medical conditions that make Covid-19 more dangerous to them to get vaccinated, the Health Council said on Tuesday.

Covid-19 vaccinations became available for kids aged 5 to 11 in December 2021. The Health Council advised parents to vaccinate their kids because the vaccine protects against MIS-C, a rare condition children can contract when they first become infected with the coronavirus. Since then, about 3 percent of kids in that age group got vaccinated.

The vast majority of children in the Netherlands have now had a coronavirus infection at least once, the Health Council now said. And the risk of MIS-C is almost non-existent at a second or subsequent infection. The risk of MIS–C is also smaller with the currently dominant Omicron variant of the coronavirus.

The Health Council, therefore, considers the usefulness of vaccinated children in this age group “limited.

DJ...so on vaccines I am getting more and more "confused".....

-vaccines may have more risks then vaccine producers are willing to admit...

-vaccines (alone) do NOT stop (yet) the pandemic, create more immune-evasion..

-however also some indications at least some groups may get more protected after vaccinations-if infected less severe illness...

Again...I am NOT an expert at all...trying to stay informed so I can decide on what actions to take...

I did get 5 vaccinations/boosters, limit social contacts (for years by now....)...as far as I know I managed NOT to catch CoViD...

We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.

This information also ties in with this article I read yesterday saying that Australian Health authorities have stopped disclosing the vaccination status of people in hospital for Covid because over time the numbers have shown that the more vaccinations and boosters you have received, the higher your risk of being hospitalised by Covid and now the numbers have tipped and there are no unvaccinated people receiving hospital treatment. This inconvenient fact is counter intuitive to the government narrative that everyone must be vaccinated, so it hide it, they have stopped disclosing the information on vaccine status.

https://www.theepochtimes.com/australian-authorities-to-stop-reporting-vaccination-status-of-hospitalizations-after-report-shows-zero_4971851.html?src_src=morningbriefnoe&src_cmp=Aomb-2023-01-10&est=NhU3Pt74HHNYO86vgVuX2YSMey%2Fdcf99FCizzEB9I%2FAAEwxYAchcePOY7ooEtQzkmi66

Those who got it wrong, for whatever reason, may feel defensive and retrench into a position that doesn’t accord with the facts.
