Did military used for collecting death H5N1 infected birds in Chile result in high number of human H5N1 cases ?

Did H5N1 start spreading in humans in Chile ? (With also testing vaccines, medical interventions-the outbreak as a test case for how to deal with more human cases ?)

DJ--more info needed....TMN also reported "lots of human H5N1 cases in SE Asia..." only two cases in Cambodia -father and daughter- now are seen as the only (proven) cases...

They would both have a different clade of H5N1 then (most) birds in the area...so maybe a mammal source did infect them ? (Dog, cat ? maybe even a-symptomatic ?)

DJ-H5N1 does not need to go H2H -human spread to become a nightmare...if musquito's, flies spread the virus it is also a disaster...

The causes that led to the hospitalization of 25 cadets from the Military School, after suffering an acute respiratory condition, are still under study. There are currently 12 boarding schools.

The Military School issued a new statement on Tuesday regarding the situation affecting first-year cadets, who were admitted for suffering an acute respiratory condition.

The situation became known last Monday, after the Army institution itself reported that 25 young people were admitted to the Military Hospital . This after an instruction in the coastal town of Pichicuy, Valparaíso region.

According to the statement, all first-year cadets were isolated as a result of this situation.

This Tuesday, in a second official letter on the subject, the Military School reported that at the moment the causes of the acute respiratory condition are unknown.

"The Military Hospital of Santiago is awaiting the results of the evaluation of samples by the Institute of Public Health ," they said.

Along with this, they pointed out that the internees have evolved positively and that 12 of them remain hospitalized.

“The rest of the students in the first year of school will continue to comply with preventive isolation , in accordance with the provisions of the institutional health authority, with the purpose of avoiding new infections,” it was added.

NO H5N1 in Chile....

12 Chilean military cadets are still hospitalized with Rhinovrus after one week . Other diseases such as Hantavirus, Avian Influenza and Covid-19 have all been ruled out.

welcome news...https://www.biobiochile.cl/noticias/nacional/chile/2023/03/02/escuela-militar-confirmo-enfermedad-que-obligo-a-hospitalizar-a-25-cadetes-rhinovirus.shtml or https://www.biobiochile.cl/noticias/nacional/chile/2023/03/02/escuela-militar-confirmo-enfermedad-que-obligo-a-hospitalizar-a-25-cadetes-rhinovirus.shtml ;

The Military School reported this Thursday that the disease that forced the hospitalization of 25 cadets was a rhinovirus infection, according to tests analyzed by the ISP.

The Military School issued a statement this Thursday afternoon, indicating that the 25 cadets who were hospitalized after presenting a seriousrespiratory symptoms in recent days, were diagnosed with the Rhinovirus pathogen.

The event dates back to last February 25, when 25 first-year cadets were admitted to the Military Hospital in Santiago for a serious respiratory condition, for which they had to be isolated and also subjected to examinations.

Even until yesterday, Wednesday, there were 12 cadets who were still hospitalized in the Military Hospital for this disease.

But this Thursday the results of the tests carried out by the Institute of Public Health (ISP) were known, which confirmed the initial diagnosis as a "common pathogen Rhinovirus, ruling out other communicable diseases such as Hantavirus, Avian Influenza and covid-19."

DJ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rhinovirus#Pathogenesis or https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rhinovirus#Pathogenesis

As the virus replicates and spreads, infected cells release distress signals known as chemokines and cytokines (which in turn activate inflammatory mediators). Cell lysis occurs at the upper respiratory epithelium.[citation needed]

Infection occurs rapidly, with the virus adhering to surface receptors within 15 minutes of entering the respiratory tract. Just over 50% of individuals will experience symptoms within 2 days of infection. Only about 5% of cases will have an incubation period of less than 20 hours, and, at the other extreme, it is expected that 5% of cases would have an incubation period of greater than four and a half days.[11]

Human rhinoviruses preferentially grow at 32 °C (89 °F), notably colder than the average human body temperature of 37 °C (98 °F); hence the virus's tendency to infect the upper respiratory tract, where respiratory airflow is in continual contact with the (colder) extrasomatic environment.

so misdiagnosis is very easy to make...you need testing...Incubation time shorter then H5N1 ?
