As BRICS, ASEAN and other countries increasingly trade in national currencies in lieu of Western reserve currencies, this results in weakening of those Western currencies, as evidenced by the drop in their purchasing power, aka inflation. Over time, the standards of living commensurate with the production of tradable goods will result in growing poverty in the U.S. and the EU that will result in social instability. But the damage will fall largely to the lower income echelons, resulting in growth in an already unsustainable wealth disparity, with the GINI factor for wealth distribution in the U.S. reaching 0.85 in 2020. 

This explains several observations:

1. Why BRICS do not find it necessary to issue a new currency: Trade in national currencies will bring an end to the wealth siphoning mechanism of U.S. dollar hegemony. 

2. Why Russia and China are trying to maintain non-confrontational policies despite provocations: As trade away from the U.S., UK, and EU increases with growing use of national currencies, political instability, particularly in the most de-industrialized Western nations, will result. Social discontent and political instability can already be witnessed throughout the West. This will only increase as impoverishment spreads due to depreciating currencies, leading to eventual implosion of the neoliberal political system. Thus Russia, China, and other sovereign nations have adopted a policy of “wait it out” rather than risk a kinetic war which would result in the deaths of millions. Nevertheless, these countries are embarking on an accelerated program of military development, along with strengthened alliances, in case war is inevitable. 

3. Why the West is embarking on highly aggressive policies: The neoliberal cabals in control of the West realize that the changes occurring in the world, particularly as regards the monetary and financial global architecture, spell their doom, and hence are increasingly acting hysterically, fomenting conflict and chaos wherever they can. 

It is dollar hegemony, dating back to the World War II-era Bretton Woods Agreements and the Nixonian removal of the international currency gold peg, that has allowed the U.S. to attempt overcoming its massive trade deficit and its public debt at $33.1 trillion and growing. Only by selling trillions of dollars of Treasury bonds to foreign countries, especially China, Japan, and Korea, has the U.S. been able to straddle the globe with the hundreds of military bases and other facilities it relies on to secure a world order friendly to its interests. For decades, foreign countries have needed dollars to trade in petroleum and other commodities. But with BRICS, that imperative may end sooner rather than later. Secretary of the Treasury Janet Yellen has said this will never happen, but other policy makers are seeing the writing on the wall. 

Are the prospects of BRICS so serious that the U.S. could launch World War III against its main powers, Russia, China, and now Iran, as a last-ditch act of desperation as its entire world order veers toward collapse? 

It hardly bodes well that these three nations, along with North Korea, have been identified by Republican Senator Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee as the new “axis of evil.” She speaks for much of the U.S. political class.

This is another Iraqi WMD moment. We are being gaslit. Believe your eyes and ears, and the laws of physics, not the lies being peddled by our leaders and media about last night’s missile strike on the Baptist hospital in Gaza:

1. No Palestinian group has a rocket that can hit a hospital, killing hundreds. What they have are glorified fireworks that can cause minor damage and the occasional death or two. If Hamas or Islamic Jihad could cause the kind of damage that happened last night, you would hear about it happening in Tel Aviv or Ashkelon too. You don’t, because they can’t.

2. Israel’s apologists (and there are lots of them) are sharing all sorts of videos unrelated to the hospital strike. But the video of the strike itself shows that an incredibly large and powerful weapon is used. Listen to the noise the missile makes just before the hit – that whooshing noise is caused by its phenomenal velocity as it cuts through the air. That is not the noise of a falling Palestinian rocket.

A group of civil servants from various ministries expressed in a letter to the Cabinet their "serious concerns about the unconditional support" for Israel. The letter, first reported by De Telegraaf and also reviewed by ANP, urges the government to put a stop to Israel and calls on them to address Israel's responsibilities "as an occupier of the Palestinian territories."

While these civil servants condemn the "horrific" attacks by Hamas, they criticize the lack of a clear stance on Israel's response to them. They believe Israel undermines international law and uses disproportionate force, noting that Israel sees the high number of civilian casualties in Gaza as legitimate collateral damage.

"Up to this point, Israel has shown no restraint in its response, citing self-defense,” the civil servants wrote. They also observe that the Netherlands is not showing restraint either. They request a strong condemnation of the "excessive violence in Gaza" and urge the Cabinet to remind Israel "of the importance of acting within the guidelines of international humanitarian law." They point out that Israel has committed war crimes in the past and will continue to do so if not held accountable.

The civil servants also ask the Cabinet to work towards a diplomatic solution, advocating for de-escalation, dialogue, and efforts to achieve lasting peace.

At 4:00 p.m. on Friday, nearly 300 civil servants had signed the letter. While this number is growing, it is a relatively small fraction of the tens of thousands of employees working in ministries. The letter can be signed until Wednesday morning, after which it will be emailed to all government officials.

On Tuesday, it was reported that hundreds of students signed an open letter addressed to the board of the University of Amsterdam (UvA). The authors of the letter criticize the university's stance on Israel and believe it should express support for the Palestinians.

Leiden University also noted growing concerns among students regarding the events in Israel and Gaza. A spokesperson said that during lectures or via emails, they have received inquiries from concerned individuals from both the Jewish and Palestinian communities who want to share their perspectives and are "sometimes also angry." Some students asked if Leiden University would make a political statement, but the university believes that would not "contribute to resolving the conflict.

Chinese artist and activist Ai Weiwei—whose gallery delayed his show after he tweeted about the Israel-Hamas war—said recently that censorship in the West poses a “greater threat” due to how it “operates in a more concealed, solid and enduring manner.”

The comments were made to the Art Newspaper this week followed an interview with Sky News in which Ai said censorship in the West is “sometimes even worse” than Mao’s China.

I do however believe that Carlson has a hidden agenda, shared by a large segment of the right in the U.S., of rehabilitating Russia in the eyes of the American public in order to put the country on America's side of the ledger in order to contain China. 

They believe (probably correctly, from a realist standpoint) that it was a historic mistake of gigantic proportions to antagonize Russia and push the world's 2 other great powers in each others' arms against the 3rd one, America. Whilst I believe this has no chance in hell of succeeding - this crazy pipe dream is yet another symptom of delusional American hubris - 

I refuse to promote the content of someone who produces it with a spirit of ultimately fomenting hatred and conflict, all in the service of a form of American hegemony. It runs contrary to the very reason why I am myself tweeting, which is to promote a world at peace, the biggest obstacle of which being American hubris and desire for hegemony... (I also believe it doesn't ultimately benefit Americans themselves but that's another topic) 

This isn't too say, like the EU is currently attempting to do, that Carlson should be censored. 

This call for censorship is also done in a spirit of fomenting hatred and conflict: they want to do it so you won't hear what Putin has to say, which undoubtedly will run counter to their own narrative of an evil Russia that needs to be defeated vs a saintly West that needs to win. 

Also in the service of hubris and hegemony, only with a different opinion on how it ought to be achieved and what form it takes. 

So do watch it if you want, but bear in mind that Carlson's views and spirit - at least in my humble opinion - are just as reprehensible as that of those who try to censor him. I see no good guys here.
