When our borders, airports, schools, malls, sporting events and other
gathering places have been closed by the government, what percentage of
the work force in your estimation will be jobless?

seeing that our nations economy is based on consuming, and many people work in the retail industry, i'd say more than 50 % if they close borders, malls and such. we really need to look at what is really essential. i work in auto industry- not essential, brother salesman- ne, sister in law- dentist- ne-- sister- designer- non essential, brother- teacher- not essential, list goes on. if things get bad, i'm afraid will all be jobless.

I have a question...you said percent of our population that will be unemployed. Now I assume that you mean how many people going into the pandemic loosing their job during pandemic. But which did you mean??? I haven't voted because I just wasn't positive what population figure you were targeting. But not everyone works. Labor stats from BLS.gov: Dec 05: Civilian employed: 142,779,000 Government emp: 12,888,000 Stated another way: 62.8% of US population is employed. If we suffer more than a 12% job loss due to a pandemic we will have more unemployed vs employed people. I have seen stats that say we may see a 20% job loss. I felt those statistics were a bit polyanish, but hey, what do I know. Point is I am not looking forward to a situation where less than 50% of the population is earning a wage, paying taxes, etc. Addendum: I take it back...you addressed my question in your very first sentence!!! Bad week, sorry. Edited by SophiaZoe |
