Bird flu: call for calm in Bulgaria
BULGARIA - No case of bird flu had been registered in Bulgaria and there was no reason for panic, Agriculture and Forestry Minister Nihat Kabil said in Parliament on January 10.
Kabil was requested by MPs to brief them on the outbreak of bird flu in neighbouring Turkey.
Bird flu could become endemic in Turkey and pose a serious risk to neighbouring countries, the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation has warned, according to a BBC report on January 11.
