I am off to a Spring Fling. Well, I am actually working in a booth there; but I am sure it will be fun at the same time. |

Went to lunch with DH yesterday. Today my oldest DD graduated from college (yeah, one down) so we had a small party here at my house, so that wasn't exactly relaxing (because it was alot of work) but it was alot fun and it took my mind off of things for awhile.

Well, things don't always turn out the way that we plan them. I am back from the Spring festival. I did NOT have fun like I was expecting. I got there and rumors were circulating that gang fights were getting ready to occur. I did not take it too serious though. The person that I was with said "let's make a practice run into the trailor and lock up". I was then starting to get worried. Two men also working at the Spring festival came by and said "it is getting ready to happen". Not long after, we started seeing hundreds of people running down the street in our direction. Apparently something did happen and everybody was just running to safety. I think it was just a fight or something, not really sure. We ran inside the trailor and locked up, just like we planned. All those people were outside our trailer. It was very scary. We saw a police officer near our trailer and asked him to stay close by. He remained right by out trailer the whole time. The crowd was dispersed by the police, and I made it back home to safety. I learned a valuable lesson; I really take the feeling of safety for granted. |

Planning on taking my honey bunny to dinner on Tuesday for our wedding anniversary. Have to go to Florida in June on business planning to take an extra week to see all of the family. Need to keep it all in perspective.
Family telling me that I am freaking out a bit. Feel like we only have a couple of good months left. Need to get it all done before September. Do not know why just a feeling. Guess I am getting a little nuts.

Happy anniversary majordad. My husband and I celebrated 7 yrs last mth. Wanted to remind you, the ABC movie about bird flu will be on Tues. night. Don't forget to record. Also what part of FL will you be visiting? I live in the panhandle and it was close to 90 degrees today. This is my first time posting, but have been reading here for a couple of months. Absolutely LOVE this board and have found this thread very refreshing! |

Just got back from 2 weeks in the Outer Banks of North Carolina! Aunts, uncles, cousins, DH and kids. The kids feeding the swarming seagulls and assorted birds kind of freaked me out. Seeing a dead washed up gull on the beach and the kids running to it really freaked me out. I wanted to sterilize them from head to toe, the kids that is and they didn't even get that close. I tried to talk to my family about BF when an item came on the tv, they just laughed at me. Said it isn't even over here, I told them it would be by the end of the year. They said it was just a media scare tactic like Swine flu and Y2K. They asked me what they should do and I said stock up for quarintine. They said this is America, they can't do that, quarintine that is. They then told me they would come to my home, I live in a rural area and live off my supplies! Eck, I barely have enough right now for my 4 let alone 24! I dispare for my loved ones!! I will now go back to prepping with the goal of mega stocking. The burden is weighting heavily on my mind and the clock is ticking......... On the other hand fun was had by all.

I LOVE reading the responses that this thread has started! Please continue to keep this thread open by sharing the GOOD things in life that you are experiencing along the road to preparation! Gimme: I'm so sorry for the saddness that you are feeling, right now! I am looking forward to the day when you feel better and look back on your day and say 'that was good' and share it with us! I think we are all so serious about what we are doing and share so much info and concern with each other that it is so important to share these good things that are happening too! Keep 'em coming!! -k

Took my 8 year old son to a movie yesterday and then to krispy cream.
Today we are going to see David Copperfield. Summer camping plans will
continue. No reason to put fun on hold.

My son took me to the supermarket and helped me buy preps yesterday. We are only getting things that are almost extras now. Then on the way home he took a detour and we had a beautiful ride through the countryside, looking at the new lambs.
This afternoon we took the dog to a ruined mill with a pretty cobbled pedestrian bridge. We walked along the riverbank and then up through the woods where there were trillions of the most beautiful indigo bluebells. He pateintly waited while I picked loads of them. In a clearing in the woods, all by themselves, in the middle of nowhere, were half a dozen empty barrels- what a waste, they would have been just the job for water storage! This evening we are going to play diplomacy - his favourite, and eat chocolate cake and custard slices even if they are bursting with trans fats! Beth

I'm thinkng you need to go back to that beautiful meadow, and this time make sure you can tote at least ONE of those barrels back home with you! Just another excuse for seeing those trillion or so bluebells!! I have most of my family, still in England (came here to USA when I was nearly 4) and although we've got some pretty spectacular site in the USA, the country side that is in England is outstanding! Just can't get the same sites here!!! Lucky you!! -k

Hmmm...or maybe not (the barrels). I've got two or three clearings in my woods, and sometimes an object ends up there with no apparent use that's real useful to me. I don't mind neighbors wandering by, but its be a real frustration if they walked off with something I needed (board I use to cross the creek, for instance). :) jg

I just realized that if you weren't familiar with DD and DH, you probably won't know what Flylady is either .
Flylady.net is a website run by a lady devoted to helping people stop being perfectionists/procrastinators, etc get organized and get things done. Saved many a life

Had I not found flylady a year or so ago, I would not have had time, money, or the organization to prep for this BF! Though now I read about BF, I am so glad I found her site. My life and sanity is greatly improved. There's very little clutter in my house now, so prepping was easy. It sounds crazy at first, but really helped me to organize my life, by getting my house organized. Helps your brain too! I have a daughter with learning disabilities who was in an accident and spent 8 days in the hospital and months doing physical rehab. I would have lost my mind if this had happened before I learned about flylady. flylady.net
