Late 1800s we were in the throes of a mini ice age.  They had frost fairs on the Thammes and kept warm on the ice with bonfires!  The "Dickensian" view of Christmas is based on the extra cold in that short period, which Dickens was all too familiar with.

It rarely snows or even frosts deeply in London these days.

Should the thermohaline current switch off, it would bring deep cold to both you and I, but even that would be temporary as worldwide temperatures are going up so fast.  The climate is hugely complex and people forget that - assuming the thermohaline, gulf stream, ocean conveyor or whatever is the only heat transport.  The jetstream also re-destributes heat around the planet and would take up much of the slack.  There is local warming too.

Trust me, I don't expect this to be at all pleasant!  But one system cooling down while two warm up is unlikely to be too severe a change to survive - at least where heat is concerned.  I would be far more worried about massive increases in wind.  As the jetstream takes up said slack the whole planet warms even faster; as the ocean conveyor takes heat to us, it takes it from the South Pacific.  The methane hydrates in many undersea areas and much permafrost are also beginning to melt/vaporise.  Put those two together and overall warming should increase in speed.  Before that carbon was sequestered by Mother Nature, chilly NE Scotland was tropical.  Finland was equitable.

Well the hotter the kettle, the more it rocks and sings on the stove; that is the currents of air and water speeding up inside.  Technically, Britain does not get hurricanes.  Well think again Limeys!  the whole Northern hemisphere is about to be blasted repeatedly.

As it gets warmer it gets windier.

As it gets warmer it gets wetter - although a few poor sods get droughts.

As it gets warmer sea levels rise.

As it gets warmer you get more seismic activity (isostatic readjustment).

Admittedly, we are in a warmer spot than you, but not by much and I am unworried.  We are however building wind defences for all we are worth.  We already moved up a hill and stored some supplies.

I have read about a moraine ,that was left over from the last ice age, somewhere on the east coast of Canada/USA,

About 10,000 years ago it broke sending it's contents into the gulf stream,plunging the earth into a mini ice age that lasted 1,000 years,it took about a year after moraine breaking for the ice age to start......

Will it happen who knows....?????
