Me163 posted this dec 4 then got Covid. How do you feel about the vaccine now?  Btw you were lucky to get the monoclonal antibody treatment that saved your life. That for some reason  is now being withheld by Biden for some reason. I wonder why?

i live in ny...which is about as anti trump as you can get...and it has the highest death rate based on population...yes on population...deaths and cases mean nothing if you dont throw population into the equation...

re masks...whether they work or dont work...wearing one when i go to the store for a short period of time hasnt hurt me and if they help...great...i would like to light a cigarette in the car and have somebody see if they can smell the smoke while wearing a mask but the risks of second hand smoke make this little test too risky

re vaccines...personal choice...this vaccine technology has been tested since the late 80's but has never been put in practice till now...as an engineer i wish it wasnt used for the first time on the whole world..i am not vaccinated..that is a choice i made due to some research into the polio vaccine and the aids epidemic

re personal experience..i am retired and a loner and i havent caught the virus despite being unvaccinated. everyone in the house is fully vaccinated...always wear masks when outside the house and always social distance and they have all had the virus. my wife just got better from a bad case which lasted four weeks even though she immediately got the antibody infusion...one family member works in the school system...another in healthcare and another a student...i stay home but have been in close contact with all of them.

i have been watching the virus since before most knew it was coming...i remember the early predictions here which proved very accurate...i also saw the numbers from the diamond princess which seem to indicate in hind sight that masks, vaccinations and social distancing have had little impact on death rates

so i guess i am the devil and even so i do not wish death or sickness on anyone no matter what their views or politics...and oh yes...i do have trouble relating the virus to climate change...but hey...if you do go for it...just do some checking next time you hear how a bad hurricane season is due to climate change...we have records that go back a ways

anyway...everybody stay safe and cope the best you can and hopefully this too will end soon...i remember doing drills in grammar school in case of a nuclear war...but looking back i am not sure how much help putting my head between my legs would have been.

sorry for the delay and hello to another new yorker...i look at deaths per million and cases per million (of population) otherwise you have no basis of comparison when trying to make sense of the end of the world reports which were always state specific...it would have been nice if stats for hospitalizations were available but oh well...it is funny how easy it is to stop a pandemic when you stop reporting the data...if you look at the current covid data of the world the daily deaths and new cases are still significant while the us has stopped reporting...australia and new zealand who had almost no problems are showing a jump....anyway what i took from the last two years was that you cant hide from a virus...with all the precautions and vaccinations we have seen numbers as high as the diamond princess cruise ship...so be safe...enjoy youe life while you can...the world has never been and will never be a safe place no matter how much we kid ourselves...
