I DO NOT PREP......

I do not prep for glory. Too many cold stares at the long check out counter. Like the time I had two carts holding up the line at Dollar General. One anxious lady said out loud for everyone waiting to hear, “I prefer to think positive.”

I do not prep for acceptance. Prepping causes division in a modern society. Like the time my red neck brother in law said while sipping his daily beer, “I have no respect for someone who buys all that stuff.”

I do not prep for relaxation. Long hours of research, making list, shopping, sorting, loading, unloading. Like the all nighter peeling peaches before they went bad so they could be canned.

I do not prep and it is done. Many days, weeks and months of analyzing and flushing out only to realize that some things are left undone. Like the time I filled a container of fuel only to discover later their was a pin hole in the bottom.

I do not prep and it is perfect. Bags tear, things spoil, mice and bugs sometimes prevail. Like the time the syrup bottle tilted over unnoticed for a week and dripped down on the lower shelves of goods.

I do not prep to save money . Some items will not be used, some will be tossed out, some will be given away to those that could use it sooner. Still other items will be forgotten in the back of a shed, closet or drawer. Like the time I bought extra flashlight bulbs with my last few dollars thinking it was a priority. Only to find them years later in the back of a drawer.

I do not prep because I am smart. Some items could have been gotten cheaper, better quality or done without. Like the time I bought canned sauerkraut and over time the Kraut ate thru the cans and stunk up the pantry.

I do not prep because out of fear. If there are times of panic I resort to my preps and rely on them to solve my problems. Like the time I was disabled for months by an accident. My preps came in handy to smooth out what could have been months of hardship till I recovered.

Come what may. Dumb luck, illness, foolishness, hurricanes, floods, earthquakes blizzards, wars, famines, or pestilences….I prep.

I PREP BECAUSE OF THOSE I LOVE. To provide them a future. That same opportunity given me by my ancestors who prepped so I could be here.

I PREP!

Speculation is the only tool we have with a threat that can circle the globe in 30 days. Test results&news is slow.Factor in human conditions, politics, money&bingo! The truth!Facts come after the fact.

Well said, Corn.  It's not cheap, nor convenient, nor do we typically win points, admiration nor respect.  Frequently there are minor misfortunes like your syrup or saurkraut incidents.  It's all about peace of mind, having a safety net against difficult situations and hard times.

I think the Y2k thing burned alot of people and it's hard to have the zeal for another round of getting ready for something that may never happen. The whole concept of intense prepping and the thought of what will happen to the things you put aside if there is a real pandemic makes for some very worrisome thought. Where I live, I am certain the people around me would not allow anyone to keep what they have if push came to shove.

Corn you are a true poet.

"I am only one; but still I am one, I cannot do everything, but still I can do something. I will not refuse to do the something I can do." -- Hellen Keller
