Let's see, we have a killer flu virus and an overcrowded asian or latin american city. The potential death toll could be 300- 500 million world wide. This is something that we must understand as realistic. I think that the death toll in the USA could be 3 to 5 million dead. whcih means 3 to 5 out of every 300 could die. What this could mean Taking the historical model of the black death in account. massive chaos would ensue. Authority would collapse and crime rates would soar. WE are looking at a potential civilization destroying or altering event. Sooo, enjoy Western Civilization while you can ? KOMET163

I would think that "civilization destroying" might be a bit overstated. I do, however, agree with the term, "nation busting". Countries COULD fall if this is bad. I just hope it's not mine, or any of our international community's countries.

I would agree that nation busting is possible in that, some nation with a huge grudge against another nation could take advantage of the flu, attack and decisively beat the other. |

I'm not afraid, I'm paranoid. Dont talk too loud, they are listening.

I could MAYBE think of two countries that might attack (in a moment of pure insanity) during a pandemic. Although it's way down on my list of dangers. Do you have any particular country in mind? Care to expound? |

The pandemic of 1918 basically ended WW1 if I understand correctly. No one will attack. If they did the vaccinated military (first priority to get new vaccine) We would use our machines to eliminate the threat. cruise missles etc. The military implications of the bird flu is that 5-20 years from now ....will we have enough young people to be in the military? This virus is killing all the young. Whos gonna pay our social security? |

Have you ever watched horse racing..and they put the horses at the starting gate and you can see the horses that have the desire and the will to win..well all 4 horses are at that starting gate and they are ready to be let lose...this is just the beginning..has anyone ever thought about the fact that should half of the wild birds die what would happen..come on think.. BUGS..millions and millions of bugs that the birds eat...and then on would come West Nile and a whole new host of diseases... And I won,t get started on nuclear war, not just yet..other things to worry about first... |
