" It is going to be all at once -worldwide -when it hits," Hughs said of the avian flu.
History on the side of bird flu.
"I have absolutely no doubt. I am 100 percent positive that we will have a pandemic," said Dr. Gregory Poland, a physician at the Mayo Clinic, an international expert in vaccinology and biodefense and an adviser to President George W. Bush and Congress about such matters. Edited by DAX COM - April 23 2006 at 2:45pm |

DaxCom-
Thanks for the post.
We have a similar post where Dr. Poland announced this to his church group.
We have a Mayo Clinic here in Jacksonville, and the physicians privately express similar sentiments but not boldly in public, like Dr. Poland.

Wow, I had read the other post but reading this news article gives me goosebumps and more than a sinking feeling in my stomach. No matter how prepped you are, this is something that you just can not prepare for emotionally. I feel bad for the people who are out there and have no idea that this storm is about to be the next worldwide sunami!! I just came home from a baby shower and it was so much fun to see a young couple ready to start a family and now I am just so scared for them and all of us really. Just too sad for words. :>{

Yeah, Fritz, I can so relate to your comment about how scary this all is!
As for preparing for this thing "physically", we're good. "Emotionally", is an other story...This is where the "real" work begins! Having given much thought about this lately, my DH & I went out & bought ourselves a fantastic used motorhome today. We've been saving for it for a year but thought it was senseless to get it with such a huge possibility of a BF pandemic looming over our heads. Today, we said, "to H@ll with it!" We're getting the camper & we're gonna go camping every single day that we can until we have to go into isolation in our farmhse. indefinately. If TSHTF, my family & I will have wonderful memories of spending just a couple more times together doing what we love most...CAMPING! This is our therapy for trying to deal "emotionally" with this BF thing. The $ we spent on the motorhome could have bought a boatload more BF supplies though...Oh well, we probably needed the camper more. God help us all... Peggy |

And my guess is this Mayo clinic has patients and charges them for something or other.

Outsidethecamp - Good for you! This pandemic won't last forever and when it's over you'll be good to go again - and I wouldn't be surprised if it comes in handy during. You have a farm to go to? Lucky girl - I guess blessed is a better word. Have a great time and many more blessings to you!
