I'm still around keeping an eye out on news and discussion. I have just been on to other things. Life re-opens and must move forward, as it were. Besides, as I mentioned in another post, I was stress shedding hair like mad and I need to do something other than focus tightly on this for a while. Just when I thought it was safe to scale back a bit all these variants emerge and have me worried again. We may not see closures this summer, but I bet we will in the autumn and winter. Here I was pondering putting my N95's away in my emergency preps, And just when I was thinking it might not be a bad idea to scale back on preps I decided its time to rethink things. Instead, I'm now evaluating what I need and organizing purchases. Additionally I'm checking all my electronic/rechargeable gear. Some of you may understand what I'm about to say, I know more won't. But for those who do, I have the same sense of "something wicked this way comes" I had before the '93 bombing, 9/11 and the January we started getting news of Covid. I am not a happy camper. |

I think your planning is very wise, Witchy. My mother, an "old-school nurse", has been saying all along that this virus is going to be a marathon, not a sprint, and just yesterday she told me she doubts we will be out of danger and possibly lockdowns, etc., till the end of 2022. And there is always the danger of nature turning on us, as we have not proved ourselves responsible stewards of this planet, as well as danger from other countries whose intent are less than noble. As for me, I'm worried enough trying to get myself back out into a compatible workplace situation! |

Nice to hear from you! Like you, I've been focused upon other activities besides simply staying alive, looking for toilet paper & staying glued to the TV. My wife and I both had the Moderna vaccine double dose, and we think this was the superior choice of available vaccines. However, we still wear our cloth surgical masks to the store, and remain vigilant. The rise of variants is concerning....those reluctant to vaccinate will ensure that this pandemic will smolder on like coals in a fireplace, enabling new and more aggressive mutations and variants. RNA viruses like coronas tend to mutate rapidly since their genome is so primitive, but they do not seem to "reassort" like influenza viruses do. This is a good read: I'm certain we will all have boosters in the near future, and it is possible that vaccines may be mixed & matched - i.e. if you had Pfizer, you might benefit from a Moderna dose etc. I'm watching developments closely. Be safe, everyone! Chuck out! |

I share your 'intuitive' sense, and it's now escalating daily. I have also been taking a break from here, but have been reading about the variants. And the studies out of Israel showing people with weakened immune systems are probably not fully protected. Talked to my doctor about it yesterday, and she basically said keep up the same protection level as last year if at all possible. UGH. I've eaten out a couple of times (outdoors), but won't do it again. I have a family road trip to/through Texas and Oklahoma in a few weeks, so not feeling great about that because the other 3 are all going to lots of public places without their masks right now. |

I think we are being "prepped" for a slate wiper....... Getting the mostly ignorant masses aware of pandemics ,so the end result won't be as devestating, for the survivors.... Take care all 😷😉 |

I went to a public talk about earthquake prepping recently and the 3 speakers all said that they lived in towns (not in the country) and that for water they had filled plastic milk cartons and then lined out the bottom of their chest freezers with a layer of them and then built a wall of them against the vertical wall of the freezer as well, putting all their frozen food in the gap in the middle. They did this in order to keep the water fresh and also to keep the freezer cold in the event of a power outtage. I thought it was a great idea, but of course, it only works if you have a chest freezer!! |

I get it Witchy, I share it to an extent. I don't trust premonitions. They are always correct on all details (sometimes exaggerated) but the interpretation can be way off. My slow-motion-apocalypse was not just a figure of speech. I don't see a slate-wiper, but this is far from over. |
