Well, the upgrade is done and we're still in one piece, so that's a good sign. The former problems with the text being replaced by strange characters and symbols is fixed, along with any login glitches. The Avatar images are also uploading properly now.
One new feature is the World Lingo translator in the upper right corner with the flags. It translates every word on every page so people can now easily view us in a few different languages. It also translates any other connecting websites once their link is placed.
Hope we can all get used to the new look and changes.

Hi Bojingles, give me some input. Can you be more specific about what you liked better about the old forum? Did you like the old layout better?
Did you like the old color scheme better with the gold color?
Anyone else have any thoughts about the new colors vs. the previous colors? All suggestions are welcome and needed.

Thanks Sassy, the Avian is the one part that we can't chane that easily because it's a flash file. I originally wantet to go with the red instead of the gold myself.
What about the gold font when you're writing iinsteaqd of the white? Which color do you like better?

We underlinded the links now so that they stand out more. We also just changed the white font inside the Red to gold.
What about the writing and reading text? Do you like gold or white?

Albert, gold font would be great. The gold and red kinda clash , what about changing the red to maybe green, gold and green

Thanks sassy. We can't change the Red for the time being, but we can look at changing the white text to gold, unless anyone objects?

Thanks for all your great work. I like the red, altho it is hard on my eyes. Maybe it's the gold text. I actually appreciate the white text, it's easier to read. I also like the "shooting star" you had on here for a nonosecond. Don't suppose you could bring that back? Didn't think so, did like it. Thanks again, Albert. You rock! D |

Albert: Two things
the skrigits where quotes/apostrophe should be are still showing up. where is the "edit" button. I wanted to go in and edit my last post to clear the skrigits and didn't see one. Now it is a sloppy post. Sorry. D |

Hi EG, I apologize for the text problem. I'm really not sure what to do about it at the moment.
The "Edit" function is now located under "Posting Options". If you click on it, it will provide a drop down menu box for selections.

The reason the layout looks a little different is because each topic now shows the date and time the topic was originally started, which is different from other forums. I'm not sure how useful we will find it, but I guess time will tell. Also, because of the new translator, people in other countries who speak other languages can now access current American news with ease. So by accessing AFT, they can now get breaking news in other languages from sources such as the AP, Bloomberg, Reuters, etc ... A couple of years ago we actually used to post news in different languages in the Multi-Language forums, but it was never user friendly enough unless you spoke English. I doubt foreign visitors could even locate their respective forum, lol. Posting news in another language is one thing, but creating a situation that enables them to locate the news your posting is a whole other problem. Now, if you speak French, German or Spanish, you can easily translate this entire site. This could possibly open the door with communicating with people in other countries, if they ever visit here. There are not a lot of forums out there that translate to other languages. You would think some countries would like to view current American news in their own language.

I really dig the new layout Albert. Easier on my middle aged eyesight. My computer was down for a week, due to last week storms. What a great surprise! Keep up the great work Albert!

Thanks again gang for the kind words. It's funny because we almost went with a couple of different colors, but losing the gold'ish color just didn't feel right. Our overall attempt to brighten up this place may have fallen a little short.
