There was a nice web page somewhere that had a map with an overlay of migratory patterns and showed how they all intersected and affected every continent, but now I cant find it. Sorry. I thought I had found a link to that site here, but just cant find it again. Does anyone else recall anything like that? |

Oh great...the red line that runs through the countries of infected birds, crosses the path of the black line, which touches the blue line intersecting the green line that runs right past my front door! Just more confirmation of 'matter of time' vs. 'what if'...

Jaz, if bird flu arrives in North America, "scientists expect to find it first in Alaska, a breeding ground for many migratory birds from Asia." "In Alaska, scientists such as Runstadler are searching for traces of H5N1 in bird droppings left from the summer breeding season. They could be preserved in now-frozen water or soil." Entire article is here: http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/nation/la-sci-birdfl u10jan10,1,2910343.story?coll=la-headlines-nation (most likely you will be requested to register with the LA Times to read the article.) |
