Perhaps a hardcopy letter will have a better impact than an email.
Great Job Everyone !!

Here are just a few chain pharmacy providers off the top of my head: Walgreen's, CVS, Rite-Aid, Eckerd Drug, RX Shoppe, The Medicine Shoppe, Wal-Mart, Target, K-Mart, Pathmark, Acme, Giant Food Stores, Safeway, Super-Fresh. Some BJ's wholesale warehouses now have pharmacy services. Costco & Sam's Club offers online pharmacy services for members. Costco's contact is: Pharmacist Manager: Judi Mar Email: webpharmacy@costco.com
Food Lion offers pharmacies in 23 of it's store in MD, NC, SC, & VA. I could not find a common pharmacy link for them but you can go to http://www.foodlion.com/PharmacyHealth/PharmacyLocations.asp to see if there is one near you and get a phone numer to make contact with that Pharmacy/Pharmacist directly.
The stores listed above are all places that have website contact so it would save on postage. These don't even take into account the local "Mom & Pop" Pharmacies that are not part of the big chains. Nor does it include pharmacies run in hospitals and institutions such as nursing homes, veterans hospitals, rehabilitation centers (Like the ones who do 'step-down' care for stroke & surgery patients who don't need to be in a hospital but aren't ready to be home on their own yet.). What about the online prescription services offered thru insurance coverage?
This next site is a FOR PROFIT Database site but they have pharmacy lists and claim to have access to over 200,000 pharmacists & over 67,000 Pharmacies. http://skainfo.com/pharmacy_mailing_lists/pharmacists_list.php That's a WHOLE LOT of contacting! I am NOT recommending the site, just noting my reference when I Googled 'Pharmacy Directories'.
There is also a site that lists pharmacies by zip-code (you type in the zip code, it pulls up the list) http://www.pharmacypages.com/ ... very inefficient for large scale purposes and I know from my local list that it is not complete.
Is there a way to work with the American Pharmacists Association? You wouldn't be contacting the stores themselves but with the wider body of pharmacists. http://www.aphanet.org
Perhaps it would be best to start with the large chains (more bang for your buck sort of thing). As Doug pointed out, hard copy letters may carry more weight with some people but we also have the time factor of wanting to reach as many people as soon as possible. Once a viable contact person is established at a business, a hard copy follow-up letter would be a great thing.
I hope this gives you some leads to get started with the pharmacy end of things. Sorry I can't be more help right now.

Good job Hopefloats!
We mailed it to the Mayors of the most populated 150 U.S. cities that were referenced earlier in this thread. The letters will start hitting over the next two days so we will let everyone know what happens. The letter we sent to the Governor's offices today requested for their office to specifically follow up on the local departments to ensure everything gets done. 50 Governors and 150 Mayors?? Something has got to give ...LOL.
Things could get interesting ....

Most Excellent Job! A thousand thanks and kudo's by the truckload! I was going to help out here, but two of my clients are wanting their work done, so I've been busy, still not done. I'll still be popping in and out though.

Not to make light of this quote from your excellent model letter, but aren't we all "potential corpses?" |
