I came across a great post about having no doctor or dentist. It had a helpful link with directions. I cannot locate it now on this site and was hoping someone could help me find it. I was hoping to print it out and keep in my pandemic book. Thanks! It was something like what to do if there is no doctor or dentist.

I have two PDF files:
Where there is no Doctor
Where there is no Dentist
If ya want them, let me know. The files are kinda big, so i'd have to break them apart to get them through the email to you

To add, if your thinking about printing "Where there is no Doctor", don't. I tried, and went thru a ink cartridge and did not even get close to being finished. Order the book. Ebay has them for about $25 plus shipping. Which is not much more than the cost of ink. I also went thru half a ream of paper, and still not finished. "I" am ordering the book.

Being a dentist, I thought I'd get my 2 cents in regarding toothaches, etc. Now is the best time to get a basic dental exam to see if you have any major problems lurking in your mouth. Ask for a full series of xrays, and a cleaning. The xrays will reveal any decay. Most decay doesn't have any symptoms till it's real deep. Why not get any bad teeth out now, rather than deal with them during a pandemic? If you can't afford it now, ask your dentist to refer you to a Good Sam clinic in your area (in our area extractions and fillings are the only services offered - but they are free). Most counties have some sort of Family Health clinics that operate for reduced fees. You just need to ask to find out about them. If you have access to antibiotics such as PCN or Clindamycin, I'd add it to your list. These are first and second choice drugs for dental infections. Toothaches without swellings usually calm down with antibiotics after a couple of days of very bad pain, but beware of toothaches with swellings, as antibiotics wont work as well in an area of abscess.

I don't know if this is what you are looking for but I read an article about caring for a patient with H5N1. It was written by Dr. Grattan Woodson, MD, FACP Published October 7, 2005b, Preparing for the Coming Influenza Pandemic. It is 27 pages long, but worth taking a day to study and prepare in case you are required to provide medical care. It is probably the one publication that motivated me to really be prepared, physically and mentally for the possibility of a pandemic. There are several websites that offer this article if you just enter his name and title of the article. |

That book is awsome and well worth the money I have had one for a couple of years now and I love it.

I agree with the dentist. I have recently done just that, I have gone to the dentist and made sure that every thing that can be taken care of has been. It cost me but at least i feel as if I am in better shape to survive now and not have to go to drastic measures during a pandemic. I have done the same with my doctors.
On a side note....very sorry to hear about the mutation change that makes Tamiflu less effective as I have 5 courses of treatment worth $500.00 just sitting there and it will probaly do nothing for us by the time the virus has mutated to human to human. Ha Ha...anybody want to buy some Tamiflu? |

Don't get rid of that yet. You never know which form of the virus will take hold, and with you having that, if Tamiflu is effective, and a pandemic hits, your Tamiflu will be worth more than your house.
