Conservative MPs told Boris Johnson Covid was “Nature’s way of dealing with old people”, according to Vallance diaries, and that Johnson was "not entirely sure I disagree with them": https://inews.co.uk/news/politics/boris-johnson-believed-old-people-should-accept-their-fate-and-get-covid-inquiry-told-2723567

If that is how "politicians" deal with public health there is no hope..."bojo" still not in prison...he may even return as next UK-PM....

UK: Why masking in schools was rejected Gavin Williamson, and Boris Johnson rejected calls for masks in schools because they were in “no surrender mode towards unions”.

Boris Johnson asked why damage was being inflicted on the economy during the pandemic “for people who will die anyway soon” in a meeting with Rishi Sunak, the Covid inquiry was told on Monday.

At the start of what is set to be a bruising week for the former prime minister, with former political aides and senior civil servants to give evidence on his government’s handling of the pandemic, the diary of a former private secretary revealed the damaging remarks made in March 2020.

The note was from a meeting during which Johnson was believed to have said: “We’re killing the patient to tackle the tumour. Large ppl [taken to mean large numbers of people] who will die, why are we destroying economy for people who will die anyway soon.”

Imran Shafi, the official who wrote the memo, told the inquiry he thought it was Johnson who made the comments. It came after a series of diary entries and WhatsApp messages suggested the low regard in which the former Tory leader was held by senior advisers.

Whitehall’s highest ranking civil servant, Simon Case, complained that Johnson “cannot lead” and wanted to “let it rip” when it came to making crucial choices over how the UK should handle Covid-19, the UK inquiry into the pandemic heard.

The WhatsApp message was sent to Dominic Cummings, at the time Johnson’s chief adviser, by the cabinet secretary, who confided in the midst of an oscillating government response to the pandemic: “I am at the end of my tether.”

“He changes strategic direction every day (Monday we were all about fear of virus returning as per Europe, March etc – today we’re in ‘let it rip’ mode cos [sic] the UK is pathetic, needs a cold shower etc.)” added Case, who is due to appear as a witness at the Inquiry at a later date.

DJ...a lot of countries hardly did any better..."CoViD is over" insanity now simply is ignoring an unfolding healthcrisis...

The west has a generation of lunatics in power. Genocide by pandemic, climate collapse or war seems to be a "policy"....A major problem in many countries-most political parties go for the same agenda...

Very limited inf on how CoViD (not over !)  is spreading;

https://www.thailandmedical.news/news/covid-19-news-luxembourg-starts-to-see-new-rise-in-covid-19-infections-with-covid-19-test-positivity-rates-now-at-23-percent or https://www.thailandmedical.news/news/covid-19-news-luxembourg-starts-to-see-new-rise-in-covid-19-infections-with-covid-19-test-positivity-rates-now-at-23-percent and

Luxembourg: Covid-19 Update - Week 43 * Cases up 9% in one week * Positivity rises to 23% * Increase in SARS-CoV-2 in wastewater https://msan.gouvernement.lu/en/actualites.gouvernement%2Ben%2Bactualites%2Btoutes_actualites%2Bcommuniques%2B2023%2B11-novembre%2B02-retrospective.html

DJ, if a country does bring new info the limited "media" all jump on it...

Sweden: 'Insane amount of Covid-19 right now' There is an insane amount of Covid-19 out in society right now, says Anders Nystedt, infectious disease doctor in the Norrbotten region. H/t   Aftonbladet report:

Sweden: Circulating variants of SARS-CoV-2 * BA.2.86 at 6.2%

DJ-Since the level of testing is almost zero claiming BA.2.86

BA.2.86* exploring its options to evolve, a new(2nd) possible recombination detected! ➡️BA.2.86.1/XBB.1.16.13.1.1 H/T   and her eagle eyes👏

in any form may be of limited value...a lot of CoViD-cases are missed...and one may hope most of those cases are mild...

However high level of spread in both human and non-human hosts-in part with increase of (vaccine) immunity will result in new variants...CoViD may by now have seen over 1 million sub-variants ?

Ireland: BA.2.86 cases up by 360% in one week Last week, five cases were reported by Ireland’s Health Protection Surveillance Centre Today it confirmed that #Pirola infections have now risen to 23, marking a 360% increase on last week's figures.

YES, BA.2.86 may be a high risk variant...but at least it may be detectable...Potential even higher risks may be in variants not yet detected...

--------

In UK public hearings UK-PM "bojo" did believe CoViD only killed those of limited value to society...The US -2020- did see trump saying crazy things on CoViD...Here in NL we had "mark rutte" saving the economy...The best top three prepared for a pandemic -2019 claim-  US-UK-NL did show they do not care about human lives...

For "western politics" in general money matters, NOT lives....

Another "understanding" may be needed; YES a virus can not kill all its hosts if the virus wants to survive...CoViD however does NOT need human hosts any longer...it may have-by now- found that many non human hosts that -from the virus "point of view" may kill all human hosts...

Even lots of experts may miss the big picture...CoViD still may become a major killer for humanity...killing billions of humans !

Decrease of immunity may open "chances" for lots of other infectious diseases/co-infections...Health-historians may be divided on lots of things...but history did see several pandemics (almost) ending civilizations...

The main reason "people do not learn from history" is they do not want to learn from history...

We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.

This is a REALLY interesting session with input from  on variant hunting and trying to pinpoint mutation predictions (or not) and Sasha Tabchnikova from Professor Iwasaki’s Yale lab focussing on Long Covid Also the usual excellent data updates/ Covid19 Inquiry

on the ongoing CoViD pandemic;

indie_SAGE 03.11.2023

LIVE: Join us for a discussion on long covid, vaccines and variants, with guests Ryan Hisner & Alexandra Tabachnikova, hosted by Prof Sheena Cruickshank, Prof Steve Griffin & Prof Aris Katzourakis, and numbers by Dr Kit Yates

DJ, Alexandra Tabachnikova/Yale  (AT/Y) both on Long CoViD detectable in the blood; B/T cell "exhaustion" and (like with ME-CFS) low cortisol...Both (further) indication for chronic infection

Ryan Hisner/RH also on how different XBB is from BA.2.86...If you catch CoViD from one variant "natural immunity" against other variants will be very limited...because there is that much diversity in CoViD variants...

TL;DR—Among mutations common in chronic infections are two in PLpro, which combats innate immunity. Both mutations change the SARS-2 to a SARS-1-type AA & have clear effects—remarkable intrahost functional convergence. Then questions + wild speculation at thread's end. 1/58

AT/Y also on a US study on "nasal vaccines" against CoViD that might be both sterilizing -so STOPPING infection ! and "multi-variant" effective to lots of Corona variants...

RH, mutationlevel of CoViD may still be twice that of H3N2 flu...

DJ-In the introduction also how indie_SAGE participated in the UK investigation on pandemic policies. IF the UK would have followed the South Korea example it could have prevented up to 150,000 of the 228,000 UK covid deaths...

But, "politics" not only ignoring/insulting Long CoViD (patients) but also "saving profits" claim CoViD is over...

https://www.euromomo.eu/graphs-and-maps or https://www.euromomo.eu/graphs-and-maps a look at excess deaths for age groups 0-14 and 15-44 y/o is showing excess deaths STILL ON PANDEMIC LEVEL !!!!

Also-maybe vaccines were not perfect-most of excess deaths are in the unvaccinated age groups !

In the UK only 50% of those that can get a CoViD-vaccine do get one...While lots of indications/studies point to;

-Vaccines reduce severe illness

-reduce chances for Long CoViD

-Even if you have Long CoViD you still may see some benefit of the vaccine...

In the first -pre-vaccine- phase of the pandemic chances of catching Long CoVid was high (between 15 and 25% of tested cases ????) ...The chance of getting long CoViD may have reduced because of (vaccine) immunity but since CoViD now is that widespread still a high number of people catch "LC"....

And 20% of Long CoViD cases are that ill they have to stop their job....Care only now -in many countries- dealing with LC-cases that do recover...NO plan for those with years of health issues...

-----------

Another -very major- aspect is CoViD spread outside humans...

https://afludiary.blogspot.com/2023/11/two-eid-journal-dispatches-on-h5n1-in.html or https://afludiary.blogspot.com/2023/11/two-eid-journal-dispatches-on-h5n1-in.html ;

The interconnected and often overlapping network of flyways for migratory birds depicted above has allowed the HPAI H5 virus to spread - albeit slowly and tentatively at first - from Southern China 20 years ago, first to Southeast Asia, Europe and the Middle East, and most recently to North and South America.

Over time, the H5 virus has evolved and diversified (via both antigenic drift and antigenic shift) into numerous clades, subclades, and genotypes.

As the virus expands geographically, it increases its opportunities to encounter, and reassort with, other influenza A viruses. Most of these hybrids fall by the wayside, unable to compete with more biologically `fit' strains, but occasionally nature produces a `better virus'.

-

While other clades still exist (most notably clade 2.3.2.1c in Cambodia). clade 2.3.4.4x has dominated since it underwent a major reassortment over the summer of 2016, prior to sparking Europe's largest avian epizootic on record.

Since then clade 2.3.4.4x has undergone several more major reassortments, producing an avian H5 virus that has spread faster, and farther, than we've ever seen before. It has also increased its host range (both avian and mammalian), and continues to evolve in unpredictable ways.

-

The HPAI H5N1 viruses detected during the mass death of birds on Maliy Zhemchuzhniy Island evolved from sequential reassortment of multiple genetic variants of LPAI and HPAI viruses (Appendix 1 Figures 3–9). The new variants probably acquired M and HA gene segments from viruses (Egyptian-like) detected in Siberia and Kazakhstan in 2020 (15).

PB2, PB1, PA, NP, and NA gene segments from HPAI viruses likely emerged as a result of reassortment with LPAI viruses during 2020–2021; NS segments likely emerged from LPAI viruses detected during 2021–2022. NS sequences closely related to those of strains isolated in the Caspian Sea regions and Romania were found in LPAI viruses predominantly circulating in Asia during 2019–2021 (Appendix 1 Figure 9). HPAI viruses with such NS sequences have been identified only in Romania and the Caspian Sea.

-

In a 1-year survey of wild terrestrial predators in northern Germany, we found that 5 of 110 foxes were infected with contemporary avian influenza A(H5N1) viruses, forming a temporal cluster during January‒March 2023. Encephalitis and strong cerebral virus replication but only sporadic mammalian-adaptive viral polymerase basic 2 protein E627K mutations were seen.

-

The virus has been found at increasing frequency in domestic and wild living mammals, mostly affecting carnivorous species (4) and massive die-off events raised concern about potential mammal-to-mammal transmission in dense populations (5,6). HPAIV infections were regularly characterized by high viral loads in the brain and associated clinical signs of the central nervous system with corresponding morphologic changes (711). Although Germany has had high HPAIV infection rates in avian species, prevalence studies on HPAIV infections in terrestrial predators, which feed on (infected) waterfowl, are not available. We performed a 1 year-survey to detect HPAIV in wild terrestrial predators in northern Germany.

-

Ten of 14 HPAIV H5N1-positive wild carnivores detected in the Netherlands carried the mammal-adaptive variant (10,11), and those viruses replicated to higher titers in mammalian cells than in an avian cell line (10). In our study, only 1 of 4 four analyzed cases had the E627K substitution. Those results support previous observations that PB2 627K is not a prerequisite for virus replication in mammalian cells (10).

-

While the future course and impact of HPAI H5 is unknowable, over the past couple of years we've obviously entered a new evolutionary phase of the virus.

We should be prepared for more surprises ahead.

DJ...So H5N1 might be -in some variants- be developing to spread even better in mammals than in birds...

The number of H5N1 (H% in general) variants is "increasing" (exploding ?)

Co-infection with a H1/H2/H3 type of flu may result in a high risk flu-type for humans...

DJ-Maybe a "historical note"...the main reason the "Spanish Flu" 1917-1923 could kill maybe up to 100 million people was "for military reasons" the virus was not stopped...The H1N1-"Spanish Flu" may not even have been a very high risk type of flu ! The problem is it got all the room to spread in hosts with less immunity because of the war and food crisis linked to it...

-----------

DJ, Present "politics"did fail en keeps failing in protecting public health !

Present "political insanity" is doing all it can to get not only CoViD restarted but also to create and increase further pandemic risks...

We urgently need to reduce eating meat/keeping all kinds of farm-animals...Minks may be very high risk, but poultry to pigs -on this level- from a pandemic point of view is insane....

Of course "climate collapse" should be top priority https://nos.nl/artikel/2496326-vn-honderden-miljarden-extra-nodig-voor-aanpassingen-aan-veranderend-klimaat or https://nos.nl/artikel/2496326-vn-honderden-miljarden-extra-nodig-voor-aanpassingen-aan-veranderend-klimaat ...governments fail to invest trillions of €/$ in solutions...

Air polution is another major health risk-worsening pandemic risks...

Stress, interest going up, job related stress, also does worsen perspectives...

But ventilation, a right to work/study from home already seems asking to much...

So...do we need an even worse healthcrisis before we get "better politics"...it looks that way !

We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.

DJ-Without proper testing you do end up with "general statistics"...waste water indications etc...

Long Covid: People with multiple COVID-19 infections are more likely to develop long COVID, and most never fully recover from the condition. Study: Postacute sequelae of COVID-19 at 2 years. https://nature.com/articles/s41591-023-02521-2

see also https://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/998107?form=fpf or https://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/998107?form=fpf ;

People infected multiple times with COVID-19 are more likely to develop long COVID, and most never fully recover from the condition. Those are two of the most striking findings of a comprehensive new 3-year research study of 138,000 veterans.

Lead researcher Ziyad Al-Aly, MD, chief of research at Veterans Affairs St. Louis Health Care and clinical epidemiologist at Washington University in St. Louis, spoke with Medscape about his team's findings, what we know — and don't — about long COVID, and what it means for physicians treating patients with the condition.

DJ, there is no clear definition on what "Long CoViD" is; some go for limited health issues 4 weeks after testing positive...others go for 3-6 months or 1 year after a positive test or likely infection...So with no clear definition on "Long CoViD" it may be hard to compare it with post-viral flu disease...Some indications may go for 10 to 30 times MORE chance of developing long CoViD than "longer term flu health issues"...

Very interesting thread below about the ongoing high rates of excess deaths in the “Young & Healthy” (18-44 yrs) demographic in America. Important to note that this *only* includes deaths from diseases, so excludes deaths from other causes (eg. Drug deaths, accidents).

Twelve years, and more than 12,000 blog entries ago, I wrote a piece called The Third Epidemiological Transition, based on the works of the now late (May 22, 1936 - May 15, 2014) anthropologist and researcher George Armelagos of Emory University.

The gist of his theory - which he first published in the mid-1990s - was that since the mid-1970s the world had entered into an age of newly emerging infectious diseases, re-emerging diseases and a rise in antimicrobial resistant pathogens.
Since I penned that blog we've seen the emergence of MERS-CoV from camels in the Middle East, the rise of new avian H7N9, H5N6H3N8, and H10Nx viruses in China , an unprecedented Ebola outbreak in Western Africa, the largest outbreak of human H5N1 on record (in Egypt), and the sudden and rapid spread of Chikungunya and Zika into the Americas, the international spread of Mpox, a severe and prolonged coronavirus pandemic - and since 2021 - the massive spread and frequent spillover of a new H5N1 virus into mammals.

DJ, diseases have a background...more hosts (=more meat consumption) climate collapse, more urban population, more travel ALL increase pandemic risks...

The "good part" of this is it provides us with tools to limit risks...the "bad part" we are not doing that...

We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.

DJ-media spread a lot of dis-info on many crises because a lot of "experts for sale" spread a lot of dis-info on many crises....Fairytales always were more popular than facts...

I believe Covid is the first disease in recorded human history that humans have deliberately chosen to ‘live with’. Because that’s an empty slogan, it deliberately disguises two fundamentally different meanings. /1

-https://twitter.com/RageSheen/status/1723109754149687739 or https://twitter.com/RageSheen/status/1723109754149687739 for the rest...

That’s what ‘living with’ has historically meant. Enduring something, while trying to prevent, control and treat. But the ‘living with’ slogan for Covid means something fundamentally and historically different. It means to do nothing. Just infect, repeatedly. /3

-

It’s not a fight against the disease, it’s a fight against public health itself. Funded by the same vested interests who have been assaulting everything with ‘public’ in its name or with a public focus. It’s an assault upon the concept of the public itself. /4

-

And again, no matter how much these vested interests deny it, this is also an open, declared campaign. And has been for over 70 years. It’s right there, ‘personal responsibility’ to replace anything public. Never before has this lunacy extended to disease. But it does now. /5

-

Great thread - thanks Henry. It’s been surreal to watch the supposed “left” side of politics in many places (eg US, Australia, NZ) leading this demolition of public health. Efficiently carrying out the  wishes of their opponents, setting the precedent for other battles.

DJ, like in climate change "populism" is going for votes NOT facts...the bill only further increasing....

O, yes...and of course "Putin-stopping NATO moving east-" is "bad"...worth trillions of tax payer/fiat money pooring into a war industry...If you have some questions "pro-Putin" is end of any critical questions...

As thousands of Palestinians try to find space in Gaza’s shelters or move south for safety from Israeli bombardment, infectious diseases are sweeping across the besieged enclave, according to a World Health Organization (WHO) report.

Infectious maladies such as diarrhoea and chickenpox are soaring in Gaza, the WHO reported on Wednesday, while medical organisations have been warning of the risk of cholera and epidemics.

DJ, netanyahu/NATO did find an answer-bomb the hospitals !

As the eighth COVID-19 wave sweeps across the nation, WA cases have steadily risen from 212 in mid-October to 466 in the first week of November.

The seven-day average for hospital admissions has also jumped 14 per cent.

More than 6500 new cases were reported in Australia in the last week of October.

DJ "authorities accused of dropping the ball"...that is a friendly way to describe total healthcare crime killing millions worldwide..."dropping the ball"..

It also is missing "politics" saving "the economy/profits" and ignoring all kind of expert warnings...Like "politics-for-sale" fail to deal in any serious way with climate collapse..Like "politics" ignored warnings on "foreign policy decissions"...resulting in massive wars...

A double outbreak of COVID-19 and gastro has reportedly struck several passengers onboard the Grand Princess cruise ship amid their 18-day round trip from Adelaide to Queensland. Some believe 300 or more passengers could be affected. WATCH LIVE 6pm for the FULL details. #9News

DJ...if we do not even learn a thing from recent history...if "we" keep making bad decissions-hoping this time it will not go wrong-is there ANY point in science ?

Should we ask three your old children to become "our leaders" because they may show more brains and less corruption ?

Should we make a gorilla US president because (s)he would do better than the ones that end up in the position in the last decades ?

Why send children to school ? Why invest in healthcare...if at the end we do ALL WE CAN to GET MORE DISEASES !

The psychiatric handbook DSM-5 still is seeing "what most people do" as "normal"...humans are self destructive...but that "is the norm"....

I had a new one this morning. Someone said about my mask, "when are you going to be brave like the rest of us".

-

Brave? Is it brave to be constantly exposed to Sars-CoV-2! Or gambling? It’s gambling. 10% chance of long Covid. Reinfections down to 4 weeks in some people. In the space of a year that could take you from healthy to disabled, housebound or bedbound, with no help.

Insanity as a "new normal" ...

DJ, My view on the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spanish_flu#Epidemiology_and_pathology or https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spanish_flu#Epidemiology_and_pathology ;

The basic reproduction number of the virus was between 2 and 3.[193] The close quarters and massive troop movements of World War I hastened the pandemic, and probably both increased transmission and augmented mutation. The war may also have reduced people's resistance to the virus. Some speculate the soldiers' immune systems were weakened by malnourishment, as well as the stresses of combat and chemical attacks, increasing their susceptibility.[194][195] A large factor in the worldwide occurrence of the flu was increased travel. Modern transportation systems made it easier for soldiers, sailors, and civilian travelers to spread the disease.[196] Another was lies and denial by governments, leaving the population ill-prepared to handle the outbreaks.[197]

The severity of the second wave has been attributed to the circumstances of the First World War.[198] In civilian life, natural selection favors a mild strain. Those who get very ill stay home, and those mildly ill continue with their lives, preferentially spreading the mild strain. In the trenches, natural selection was reversed. Soldiers with a mild strain stayed where they were, while the severely ill were sent on crowded trains to crowded field hospitals, spreading the deadlier virus. The second wave began, and the flu quickly spread around the world again. Consequently, during modern pandemics, health officials look for deadlier strains of a virus when it reaches places with social upheaval.[199] The fact that most of those who recovered from first-wave infections had become immune showed that it must have been the same strain of flu. This was most dramatically illustrated in Copenhagen, which escaped with a combined mortality rate of just 0.29% (0.02% in the first wave and 0.27% in the second wave) because of exposure to the less-lethal first wave.[200] For the rest of the population, the second wave was far more deadly; the most vulnerable people were those like the soldiers in the trenches – adults who were young and fit.[201]

conditions, background, play a very major role in lots of pandemics...

Replying to   and
The issues with school absences are due to ILLNESS. Last Autumn term, 13.4% of pupils were persistently absent SOLELY DUE TO ILLNESS. Improving ventilation & air filtration can reduce the spread of illness by >80%. There is no downside to clean air.

DJ, the basic idea of "creating natural immunity by not stopping CoViD-infections" is insane....

It will bring even more variants of CoViD better in evading immunity to even more hosts (human and non human) !

#COVID19 #VariantDashboard - #USA  #SARSCoV2  Lineages #30DAYTRENDS 👈 HV.1  (19.3%)⬆️ XBB.1.16.6 (7.1%) FL.1.5.1  (7%) EG.5.1.1  (6.7%) EG.5.1  (4.9%) HK.3  (4.6%)

DJ...

-A virus may bring milder disease if it is running out of hosts...CoViD is NOT running out of hosts...

in fact it should be a very major worry that CoViD may be widespread in non-human hosts...The virus "does not need human hosts" any longer for its reproduction...So it may kill more (all ?) human hosts...

-A virus "will run out of mutations"...wishfull thinking...There may be by now over 1 million variants of CoVid...mutations, recombinations, may bring millions more...Some sorts of SARS-2 differ more from each other than SARS-1 differs from SARS-2...

-SARS-1 was contained in time in 2003...Why we failed to contain SARS-2 in 2019 is kept out of the discussion..."lab-leak" blame games and crazy discussions on how to stop the virus did get all the room...

-DJ-If some "idiots" even claim centuries old practices like masks do not work there is no use for science...."flat earth crazies" run the "discussion/show of madness"...

So...what will be next ?

DJ-I expect CoViD-pandemic part 2....Vaccines and Non Pharma Interventions (limiting contacts, travel, exposure) may have resulted in a "pandemic pause",,,That "pause" may now be over...

Worldwide healthcare is now in worse shape than it was in 2019/2020...

The people have lost any trust in "experts/political liars"...

CoViD and other infections may have resulted in widespread decrease of immunity

So...M(onky)Pox may have come as a surprise...expect more surprises...

H5N1 in lots of species may recombine with a H1/H2/H3 high risk-for humans- flu virus, there are lots of other corona-virusses around...Lots of other diseases are "waiting for a chance" to "jump on humans"...And we keep doing the best we can to give them all the oppertunity to spread...

-International travel at pre-pandemic levels

-Cruise ships have their first new outbreaks

-NO TESTING ! NO SURVEILANCE !

As long as our "leaders" are not only not willing to learn from very recent history but actively deny that history "to save the economy=profits" get ready for a far worse CoViD pandemic part 2....

-------

Climate collapse gives a good indication on how "politics" ends up making climate "change" only worse....In parallel "politics" "living with this virus" create the perfect conditions for the coming -far worse- part 2...

We are run by "leaders" that in fact may be sociopaths...blinded by their own belief in being "great"...always knowing better than science...Ignoring they get paid by profit seeking companies that "donate" to their election campains...

https://www.euromomo.eu/graphs-and-maps/ or https://www.euromomo.eu/graphs-and-maps/ Week 43, NL, Germany low excess deaths, Israel "moderate" excess deaths (+4-7%)..

DJ-CoViD is not very popular in the infotainment pseude "news"...bad for advertising...

The most egregious thing that is happening now is that vulnerable patients … are being exposed needlessly to SARS-COV-2” -  on the rampant rise in hospital-acquired infections during our latest #WHNBroadcast

With some "experts" ;

The framing here reveals the reality that doing things to prevent death in hospitals is not seen as a need but a choice. Is it “worth” preventing the spread of a nosocomial infection that has a 10% mortality rate? Not if keeping patients alive isn’t a priority!

DJ...genocide by pandemic as a "strategy" -insanity ?

We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.

Netherlands Reinstates Nationwide Poultry Lockdown Following Two H5N1 Outbreaks

-

While the risks of pet owners contracting avian flu from their cat (or dog) remains low, it is not zero.  The CDC maintains a website for pet owners which has the following advice.

If your domestic animals (e.g., cats or dogs) go outside and could potentially eat or be exposed to sick or dead birds infected with bird flu viruses, or an environment contaminated with bird flu virus, they could become infected with bird flu. While it’s unlikely that you would get sick with bird flu through direct contact with your infected pet, it is possible.

DJ, Spread of H5N1 from birds into mammals must be wide...with increasing risks of co-infections with (H1,H2,H3) flu-virus that are far more of risk for humans...

The Netherlands also dealing with a very major BTV-Blue Tongue Virus most in sheep -over 4,000 farms affected...spread to Kent-UK linked to NL ?

Gosh—Did something happen starting around 2020-2023? “There are more Americans who say they have serious cognitive problems — with remembering, concentrating or making decisions — than at any time in the last 15 years, data from the Census Bureau shows. The increase started with the pandemic: The number of working-age adults reporting “serious difficulty” thinking has climbed by an estimated one million people. #LongCovid #CovidIsNotOver  https://nytimes.com/2023/11/13/upshot/long-covid-disability.html

In the US part of the problem -in serious cognitive problems- might be age related...However part will be linked with Long/Chronic CoViD...certainly in younger age groups...

Meanwhile in the UK many people haven't been offered a booster in years and no one seems to be making a fuss about it.

DJ, Here in NL 60+ and vulnerable people can get a (new) booster...international coordination seems to be missing...The WHO made it clear;

The CoViD pandemic is NOT over !

However it is no longer an EMERGING -new- disease...Public Health EMERGENCY of International Concern PHEIC...

Both "media", "politics" and even some "experts" do not notice the difference between an ongoing pandemic and a PHEIC...

Excess deaths continue to occur in 2023, UK. Related study: Those who got and survived COVID before vaccine roll-out had 40% higher risk of heart disease, and were 5 times more likely to die in the subsequent 1.5 years. See thread below by  and

DJ, By now statistics give VERY CLEAR indications CoViD-vaccines limit disease...

Replying to
According to the CDC, around 1 in 5 adults now have a health condition that may be related to their previous Covid infection. That’s 20% of us! And with each new infection, that % will just keep rising and rising…

Going for "natural immunity" via CoViD-infection might be "fire protection by burning the house down"-stupid !

Men are living shorter than ever versus women. Top reason? #COVID19. Men are less likely to vaccinate, less likely to mask, less willing/slow to see doctors, and also higher biological risk of severe #COVID

DJ, Men do have more ACE-2 receptors so CoViD is able to spread/infect better...Overweight men may be even more at risk...

More wars mean less health care capacity for CoViD, less money for public healthcare, more climate destruction and more profits for shareholders in the war-industry & banks...

DJ, The main story is on war. Further escalation of conflicts may bring us to a "level of war" unseen in history. Even non-nuclear major global war can destroy us all.

Climate collapse is already decreasing food production and logistics on a global scale. In NW Europe to much rain did flood land, destroy harvests. Flooded (rail)roads do limit transport.

On health/CoViD;

Netherlands: Largest number of children recorded with pneumonia in three years "Last week, approximately eighty children between the ages of five and fourteen had pneumonia per 100,000 inhabitants." No mention of Covid or the pandemic in the article.

DJ, "Health news" since the pandemic is "bad for advertising" -CoViD is supposed to be over/pandemic fatigue...

Denmark:  Covid-19, Whooping Cough, Mycolasma, RSV, and Influenza cases all rise SSI report: https://ssi.dk/sygdomme-beredskab-og-forskning/overvaagning-af-luftvejssygdomme

And the picture is far more complex...lots of diseases-not "only CoViD"...

There are two places I'm aware of where JN.1 is the dominant lineage, Limerick, Ireland and Iceland.   Both locations had recent news reports about their ERs being flooded.   This doesn't mean that JN.1 is more pathogenic, but it's got my attention.

And even CoViD itself by now has become very complex...lots of variants spreading now.  Non-human spread resulting in even more new variants...

https://www.euromomo.eu/graphs-and-maps or https://www.euromomo.eu/graphs-and-maps with map for week 44 showing "moderate" excess deaths (+4-7% above "normal") in Finland and Israel. For Israel war will be part of the reasons...NL, Germany, DK (DenmarK), Sweden low excess deaths (+2-4%) very likely related to a mix of diseases.

Unvaccinated against CoViD (and often flu) age groups see excess deaths still at pandemic level.
