Two separate articles relating to OAS. Interesting and it bares watching. https://boriquagato.substack.com/p/theres-something-antigenic-in-denmark |

I am struggling to understand where you are both coming from with OAS and mRNA vaccines. OAS occurs with immunological memory so it's from a secondary exposure onward. It is well documented that cross reactivity in the spike protein occurs between SARS CoV2 and many common seasonal beta coronaviruses that we have all been exposed to over the years. So if OAS does exist in Sars-CoV2 it is probably due to our constant interactions with a huge range of wild type close related coronaviruses, interactions that happened throughout our lives. Beta coronaviruses are abundant. I dont think it can be blamed on a single protein in an mRNA vaccine. . Thats why on this occasion I have to disagree with you both. I think Sars-CoV2 natural infections will elicit higher levels of original antigeneic sin antibodies compared to Sars-CoV2 mRNA vaccines. This will then drive the need for boosters. Coronaviruses are always kept in circulation and are always changing. We never achieve herd Immunity to them probably in part to OAS. Long before mRNA vaccines. If I am wrong. I am open to other opinions. Never closed mind. Hz x

DJ, Interesting articles, however https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Original_antigenic_sin or https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Original_antigenic_sin in SARS-2 was related to https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8067214/ or https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8067214/ corona-cold virusses ending up giving less immunity against SARS-2. When you-so far-look at vaccine protection-even booster against Omicron-my impression is you may be better of WITH vaccination ! I do think vaccination strategy has been a disaster-vaccinated did spread most of mutating virus...It was known from the start that vaccines did do a far from perfect job against catching/spreading the virus...the vaccine job was to protect against severe disease...and it did so. I think there is a limit to boosters...it will become less and less effective (did see a study...google knows where it is...). As long as the virus/lots of variants can spread in all kinds of hosts with increasing immunity (most of it from natural infection NOT from vaccines !!!) the virus/variants will get better in evading immunity... OAS could be going to Greece only speaking Old Greek....trying to live in an English speaking country with pre 1066 (battle of Hastings...https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Hastings or https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Hastings ) English (at that time a Germanic language...William the Conquerer introduced the Romanic layer in English...) Whit what I make of it OAS may become a problem the longer this pandemic is made to last (because we so far have not been very serious in stopping it...bodies piling up BoJo !) and vaccine immunity is getting to far away from the virus that is spreading... Another idea I did get from the article (written by a very clever cat I did see !) is "vaccines can destroy immunity as a system".... DJ In my opinion-totally NOT an expert ! - Non Pharma Intervention in 2020 did show best results ! A virus needs to be able to jump from hosts to host...if you stop that you stop the pandemic...Even now Omicron can "fly-for-free" around the globe...governments still not doing much to stop air travel... How can you tell people to close their shop, limit contacts...then have a garden party/bussiness meeting...keep air travel going...so unbalanced ! But another discussion ! |

Hazelpad, I didn't post this thread. All I said was I've never heard of OAS before. I was not expressing an opinion. I don't have one on this as, as I said, this is the first I've heard of it. It's an interesting article, full stop. I don't have an opinion on this subject for you to disagree with me about. |
