Subject: How to care for BF ill at home...?

Since access to effective medical care at a public hospitals is likely to be rationed at best or non existent, what things can be done to care for those striken with BF at home?

Effective BF care at home is likely going to help impact "turning the tide" of BF infection in a greater way than public medicine, simply because:

(A)  Home healers will be available
(B)  Home healers will have the time
(C)  Victims will not have to wait for a bed
(D)  BF victims will not have to travel to obtain their care
(E)  They will be in the devoted care of loved ones

The 67 billion dollar question that this hinges on, however, is:

 >> WHAT KIND OF LIFE SUSTAINING CARE SHUD HOME HEALERS GIVE? <<

I cant find any comprehensive literature on exactly what kind of care Home Healers should give to the ill:

** What to do / not do;
** Avoiding infection;
** What to do with soiled bedding;
** What to give to victim to eat / drink (and how often)
** Whether to isolate victim or not from other family members

The US government should compile and mail IMMEDIATELY such a document to every household in the USA.

I've been doing a lot of visiting this site and I did find at home care instruction by Dr. Woodson. Hope I get this done right! http://crofsblogs.typepad.com/h5n1/files/TheComingInfluenzaPandemic11ptVer30ct2005.pdfConfused

Hi Abba,

Here is a link to a pdf file (can be read by your Acrobat Reader, or Preview if you have Mac) that has a truly excellent description of what nutrients to put into your body so that you substantially lower your risk of infection, and what to take if you get sick to shorten the duration and severity of symptoms.

http://homepage.mac.com/forever.net/About/antiviral%20nutrients.pdf - THE PIVOTAL ROLE FOR NATURAL PRODUCTS IN COUNTERING AN AVIAN INFLUENZA PANDEMIC

This is something you can do to be ready right now that will probably save your life. This file is linked from elsewhere on this site and also from my own site ( http://www.birdshot.cc - BIRDSHOT ).

Thanks so much grammajo....I could not get that link to open--so I searched the net for a live link to this authors Home Care manual.  Here is one that worked:

Clicking on the link will start the download of the manual.

Thanks for the post Desert Dan,

The pamphlet is accurate but doesn't convey the serious symptoms the H5 patient will exhibit.
For example, bruising (thrombocytopenia) so severe that the patients skin will turn blue/purple.
Coughing so severe that ribs will break.
Difficulty breathing that will cause panic in the patient and care giver.
Bloody diarrhea and bloody vomitus that is contageous.
Severe headache and changes to mentation to the point of psychosis.
The patient may die within hours to days of the first symptoms.

This type of patient would be a challange for a skilled intensive care unit medical professional and respirtory care professional. The pamphet sounds too much like this will be like treating a runny nose.

I am glad to see at least something is being published however.

The article provided by Dr. Woodson gives detailed information on how to care for a patient at home.  Even though he states that most type 1 patients will die, and most type 2 patients will die without ICU care, there is treatment for type 3.  He gives detailed information on how to treat patients at home including dosages of medication, how to keep the patient hydrated and a formula for hydration.  He talks about how to monitior their progress and the importance of keeping them clean and dry.  The article is easy enough for anyone to understand.

Thank you VERY much, kparcell, for this contribution.  I need to read thru it in depth (it looks to be very well researched!), but will tell you that i have also done extensive internet research on resveratrol and its anti inflammaroty properties - and my wife and I purchased 360 tablets about 2 months ago.

From what we gather, the high death rate is from the inflammatory response / cytokine storm.

ThANKS VERY MUCH, AGAIN!

Anharra---thanks very much also for this link / article.  It seems anything from Grattan Woodson is the "real deal" -- no gloss, distortion, or hype.

If medical care at hospitals will not really be available, we must not only shelter in place, but heal in place as well.

I recenty spent 17 days at the ICU with my 5 week old son, who suffered from SIRS, basically a nasty unspecified infection that unleashes the lovely cytokine storm. If not for the tremendous amount of medical intervention he would have been dead in hours. Not to sound too horribly pessimistic, and I do have Dr. Woodsons basic preparations ready, but after that hospital experience I just think that if AF wants to kill you, it will. If you are lucky, strong, and naturally resistant, you might make it. I'm dubious that any alternative therapies will have much effect when your lungs are filling up.
