The larger problem is that he'll probably be out of office by the time the true scale of this is known January 2021.  Nor will his followers bother to look up flu deaths between 2018 to 2019.  It was only estimated to be 8200 Americans, with 14,000 worldwide.  WHO posts Covid-19 deaths as being over 4,000 and we haven't even ended the first quarter.

I was reading about this tweet a few minutes ago....he has received and deservedly so...a ton of pushback on it. Maybe there are some smart folks out there afterall….but folks like my 89 year old father who worships Trump, will only read the tweet and say...see....the FLU IS WORSE....ughhh….(and my father is a computer scientist...and logical in many ways, except when it comes to Trump)

I share a trace of Carbon's attitude.

I don't want anyone to get it.  But if Trump were one of the infected,  he might change his tune.  A dose of enforced empathy could save some lives.

I think that it is the exponential increase that many people just cannot understand.  When we get close to the same number of deaths as the flu and then a few days later the number is unbelievable...  That is when they will get it, but of course it will be too late.

Funny, I said the same thing about this administration when they ripped children away from their parents over a misdemeanor, put them into a system unprepared for the influx... lost hundreds of the children and they still don't know who these children are.  Then when called to the carpet over it, incarcerated children in cages without proper food, clothing, sanitation or medical care...

That being said -  tell me honestly if you think the chief executive can approve all this done to children, do you really think he cares about you at all?

Obama during the spike of waves of illegal immigrants did use chain link enclosures.  Fine.  Call an enclosure a cage.  But the law to transfer the children to HHS within 72 hours was honored.  It didn't leave them in squalor for weeks/months.

The Democratic-led House Oversight Committee on Tuesday promoted a hearing on migrant detention facilities by tweeting a photo taken during the Obama administration, prompting Republicans to accuse Democrats of "playing politics" with their criticism of conditions at the southern border.

Republicans and the Trump campaign seized on the since-deleted tweet ahead of Wednesday's hearing.

"Continuing to prove that Dems are only playing politics with the border crisis, House Democrats promoted a hearing on 'kids in cages' with a photo taken in 2014," Tim Murtaugh, director of communications for Trump's reelection campaign, tweeted. "As in, during the Obama Administration. Don’t bother looking for their tweet - it’s been deleted."

Rep. Chuck Fleischmann (R-Tenn.) accused the committee of misleading Americans, adding that people would not "forget this deceitful action."

"You all know that’s a picture from 2014, right? Remind us who was President then," the House Oversight Committee Republicans tweeted from their official account.

The criticism came after the Oversight Committee's official Twitter account promoted a Civil Rights and Civil Liberties subcommittee hearing for Wednesday that was said to focus on "kids in cages" and the "inhumane treatment at the border."

The image accompanying the post featured migrants lying on the floor in cages. But as lawmakers and the Trump campaign pointed out, the photo was taken in 2014, during the Obama administration.

The House Oversight Committee deleted the tweet shortly after it was promoted.

A Democratic aide to the committee said in a statement to The Hill that “the photo was an error, and it has been removed,” but defended the Obama Administration’s treatment of migrant families at the border.

“But there is simply no comparison between the actions of the Obama Administration and the Trump Administration,” the aide continued. “The Obama Administration did not separate children from their families and create dehumanizing conditions as a way to deter immigration and asylum, which is the stated policy of the Trump Administration.” 

“The Obama Administration separated children only in an extremely small number of cases when there was a true danger to the child’s safety.” 

The Trump administration has come under increasing scrutiny in recent weeks over the treatment of migrants at detention facilities near the U.S.-Mexico border.

Woah Folks, Woah!

Firstly, I admit it, I can't stand Trump.  But am I seen as bullying?  I hope not.  If I am tell me.

Second, all politicians lie, ALL of them.  All news sources have agendas and will twist the truth to their own ends.  The only one I have ever caught out in an actual lie was Fox news, but that could be simply because I had personal knowledge of the subject in question.  I'm not omniscient, the others may just be lucky enough not to be caught yet.

Thirdly, Kids were definitely separated from their families on the border in 2018.  That was under Trump's administration.  This came from a news source I almost trust - well distrust less than the rest - I have had direct dealings with the BBC and they told the truth even when it was difficult for them. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-44518942 - https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-44518942


I am not as sure about this next news source, but It did prove Biden to be either misinformed or lying.  Under the Obama administration, people on the border WERE caged.  But there were no policies to separate families. 

So the Trump administration are also lying when they say the Obama administration separated families.

Putting it another way Obama's people behaved intolerably badly.  Trump's people are even worse.

And as for politicians, news channels and press secretaries - they all LIE.  it's the mainstay of their job.


So could we be a bit more polite here please?  The real enemy is the virus, not each other.

The Trump haters just can’t  quit.  If they could they would blame him for Covid19.  i did not like Obama but never would have brought the wrong  things he did to this forum.  I quit looking here when people were so hateful I could not come here.  I was hoping people would ban together here during this time.  


I agree this stuff needs to go to the political thread or whatever you call it.
