The single case announced Monday was found in a 63-year-old woman who had neither traveled nor come in contact with a confirmed case, the department said Monday. Around 1 p.m. on Tuesday the department released information about the other five, which included a 70-year-old woman who flew between Florida and New York, a 75 -year-old man and woman who each flew between Florida and Panama, a 68-year-old man who recently traveled to Ohio and a 21-year-old woman whose case was still under investigation. Sumter’s two new infections were discovered in a 74-year-old man who traveled to Texas and who also had contact with a confirmed case, as well as a 73-year-old man whose case was listed as under investigation. It is important to note that in the case where someone did not come in contact with someone or fly, that coronavirus can spread through contact with surfaces, not just person-to-person contact.
