Indiana did a randomized study to find out how many people have/had the virus.  They tested at the end of April for viral infections and for antibodies.  While they found that 11 times as many people had been infected as the current testing numbers show, less than 3% of the population had been infected.  3% is a long ways from heard immunity.

Yes, 3% is a very long way from herd immunity. And we've had a relatively high number of deaths to get to that 3%.
