There’s all ready a new round of cases         Seems to be an up tick in my area as well as other places around the country. Loosening lock down and populace really doesn’t care.

Up late here in my town. listening to the scanner and on social media ..our Oceanfront in Va Beach is getting trashed. Looting, businesses broken into and trashed, hotel lobbies trashed, dumpster fires,  car windows smashed out - both cop cars and cars just on the road, talking about breaking into our Aquarium right now (poor animals), SUV earlier riding down the road shooting assault rifles....its a mess...still going on.

Peaceful protest until around 11 pm when all hell broke loose.

Swat deployed. Tear gas dispersed. State Police called in, other cities police called in. Its just terrible and sad.

We haven't seen this kind of civil unrest and looting in NYC since before 9/11.   

Well obviously this current round of protesting is different from the other round of protesting the stay at home orders as congregating in groups during a pandemic was then widely condemned in the previous protesting events, yet not a peep out of anyone here during this round of protesting potentially mass spreading the virus on a far large scale. How very interesting.

Well, most of them anyway.  There are always a few opportunists in the mix, only there for what they can get.

Although I really get the reasons most of them are there, there could not be a worse time.  Even with masks cutting down the infection rate, there still IS an infection rate.

Of course they have the right to protest. And yes quite a few do have masks on but a lot don't and those are not masks that seal, they are only good for large droplet. And then there is the transmission of the virus by contact and crowds are not a good way to avoid that. And then they take it home.  And given the virus does seems to effect blacks more, seems an odd choice to congregate with the potential for the virus to kill more than the cops can. And that includes the other races in the protests as well. It's still a pandemic and congregating is not going to help, but it is their right to protest. They just have to live or die with their choices, but then again that's life isn't it.

 Just very curious that not one person on here has said anything about this since everyone seemed so worried about a second wave, I guess they are not now. I'd have to guess they are afraid of saying anything against the protests like the last ones least they be deemed a racist. Forget about following the science and the advise of the experts as everyone has called for, this is about feelings I think and logic and science went out the door.

I had just assumed that the majority of Americans are more concerned about their freedoms being eroded than they are about Covid 19. Prior to these riots, all I saw was Americans protesting about restrictions and enforcements that were impinging on their civil rights. They obviously value civil liberties more than they do their health. 

But I do think the whole world is suffering from virus fatigue. There are pictures for everywhere showing people on beaches, in bars, just generally out and about as normal. It's madness.

Good description.  

Tear gas, pepper spray= lots of coughing.  I have a friend that went to the city the next morning to help clean up, and she couldn't get the pepper spray smell out of her clothes or hair, at least 8 hours after it was used.  

Tell your friend milk should do the trick to get the smell out.
