And that report was from a month ago...the death figures are worse now.

I know that some people feel that the world's population is too high, and that to curtail some of the environmental damage population reduction would be a good move.   But that does not seem to the political line of the current leadership who has allowed this pandemic to get out of hand, so the "by default" in the thread title is correct (imo).
