In places like India, we are going to see the explosive spread and wide spread deaths that many expected in the first wave when we first heard of the new coronavirus.    It is sad that a year on this wave is hitting hard and we as a species as a whole have not learned the lessons of good barrier control (masks properly worn etc).

Just how bad is it in India?  Nearly every report I see comments that the true numbers are much higher.

I have no good idea of what the real number is, but the scale of the problem is that currently India is reporting about 143 deaths per million people (total over 186,000).   The countries with the highest per capita death rate have rates about 20 times that.

If the Indian death rate was similar to those hard hit countries, then about 3,600,000 people would have died of covid-19 in that country.  This would more than double the current total for ALL countries.

No wonder they are having to turn parks into crematoriums https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-india-56897970 - https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-india-56897970

When you look back at China's reaction way back in January 2020 , hospital's built every one in beds with a distance between the beds ,(mind that's what we where allowed to see lol)

and look at India today ,masses packed into small spaces......

Can you even imagine  the mix of slightly different mutations happening right now......

What will emerge from this very "Hot Zone"..........

NEWS.com.au: Why India’s COVID-19 crisis poses a threat to the whole world.
