In my opinion we should try to vaccinate all those who want to get vaccinated...it will be a big job ! But-again-vaccines are one step forward-reopening is two steps backward !

In retrospect how unwise was the decision to tell people they could drop their masks after full vaccination, since we have, in the US at least, no political will to require proof of vaccination?!

Another error in judgement: underestimating vaccine hesitancy.

The Biden Administration needs to course-correct, and quickly.

Sadly,   I have seen this before  and it is a con game.  Vaccines are failing because they are only part of the solution.  We need to wear masks, social distance and lockdowns as well as vaccines.  We still need to act as this is the second coming of the black death.  My thoughts on this are weill known here.    Covid has adapted very well to the vaccines and has outfoxed Fauci and the WHO.  There will be other variants and subtypes of the virus.  All I know is that the leaders have failed us .   The people are being led to a slaughterhouse.    Sorry for such an alarmist perspective, however given our experiences we now see the writing on the wall.  Unless the vaccine works well, we  are faced with the second plague.   I just got my medical clearance  to stay home from work.  My boss and I had a Zoom  meeting and told me I would not be teaching in person.  They told me to work from home studio.   I was grateful for the adjustments.  

ME   - it is good the you have some work and that your boss can accomodate you working from home.

I don't think your perspective is at all alarmist or even pessimistic, given all that has happened, not just to you and Vicki, but many folks.  Someday this pandemic will no longer be causing acute illness, and will be "over" in that sense, but my gut (and history) tells me that we will be grappling with medical consequences, aftereffects and sequelae for many, many years.  That didn't have to be the case either.
