I a sure with all her preps Techno would be safe, but the situation does look dire...even stopping vaccination clinics.

Quote Thousands of people are facing a fourth day without power in the wake of Storm Arwen.

The north east of Scotland remains the worst hit, with police declaring a major incident in the area due the widespread disruption.

All schools in Aberdeenshire will be closed on Monday and Tuesday, and there will also be no vaccination clinics in the area on Monday.

<.....>

"There's no heating and no-one has a phone signal - so it's been pretty dire," he added

As we prep for the fall out from the Omega strain, sorry I mean Omicron virus, we should also remember to prep for climate disasters.

I was very glad of my preps.

Our power went out from 3pm Friday until about 1am today.  Without power, we had no water pump and our wood stove had not been cleaned yet (birds nest in the chimney over Summer).  The local cell tower came down too and so we were cut off.

The preps rose to the occasion.  The only failures were that someone had broken the wind-up radio and I could not find the plug in phone for the landline as our usual landline phone was wireless and so needed power.

Our greenhouse disintegrated; polytunnel was unaffected.  Future glasshouse plans now re-drawn.

I remember when I lurked on the prepper site before the racist/"anti-libtard" wing took over.  Everybody had Faraday Cages of different sizes for all their electronics.  If nothing else, it kept everything together.

I am sorry for the damage but good that all the preps were of value.

I am having to use a wood burning kitchen stove every day for some heat - our heat pump system's controls broke and I am stuck with the heating set for summer temperatures, that is until the dealer can get spare parts.

It is wonderful to have a good back up for heat (and cooking if necessary).

Thank heaven you and yours are okay.  Things can be replaced.  In fact, it's better this happened because now you know how to "build better".  I always found situations like this taught me a lot in terms of preps and preparedness.

Good to see you, lady!

Yes, "Lesson learned." as KiwiMum would say.
