I am not sure what to believe about Omicron. There seems to be evidence that it is a pretty mild virus.  However, I am a numbers person, and it seems obvious that even a small percentage of a very large number can be a large number, maybe large enough to overwhelm the hospitals again.  I am hoping that Omicron turns out to be very, very mild and acts as a natural vaccine.  I am hoping but I am also still taking precautions.

I am with you, Little House, on the assessment of the impact even if Omicron is not as deadly as other strains.

I do think too many people have convinced themselves there is nothing to worry about and masks don't help.  So if this one or another deadly one comes along, we are screwed!!

I keep thinking of of the boy who cried wolf,

Omicron may well be harmless and hope  as everyone else that this is the last variant we will see ,

But the nagging doubt that is one in of my life's mottos

"When you think your safe ,bump up you alert mode"

I asked in a thread weeks ago if omicron could recombine with Delta or another mutations that could be out there, that is very dangerous, but is not that transmissible, and as such is well below the

 "radar"

but recombining with a more transmissible mutation aka omicron,we could be in deep s..t

I don't know and unless you have access to a crystal ball ,know one knows ,

I know people like to stay positive, however,to be prepared you have to be aware of all contingencies, that way you may survive , if that time arises.

So while I'm fully vaccinated and will get booster when offered, will take precautions when I feel the need ,I won't listen to governments or anyone else,I will do my own thing,I trust my instincts, one of which is staying put here in Western Australia, the most isolated city on the planet....no masks ,no lockdown,no social distancing......

Take care all 😷😉💉
