Hi there, please check the Japanese statistics regarding latest development in COVID. Seems that something is breeding there.

Japan has been in "corona-news" a lot;

Just two days ago, the WHO warned of an increase in Covid deaths across the globe. We’ve taken a look at where those increases in Covid deaths are most pronounced, and whether is there more to come with the rapid spread of new SARS-CoV-2 variants such as XBB.1.5.

Firstly, Japan’s record-breaking wave of Covid deaths https://www.coronaheadsup.com/asia/japan/japan-a-new-pandemic-record-for-covid-19-deaths/" rel="noopener" style="box-sizing: border-box; background-color: transparent; color: rgb(22, 161, 231); text-decoration: none; transition: all 0.3s ease 0s; - continues . Japan’s eighth wave looked to have peaked a few days ago, but is now increasing once again.  The US, Hong Kong, Germany and Denmark are also seeing increases in Covid mortality over the past two weeks.

The uptick in Covid deaths across the globe can be seen in the chart below. It’s not a huge wave compared to previous winters, but it is steadily growing.

DJ https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/weekly-trends/#weekly_table or https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/weekly-trends/#weekly_table - https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/weekly-trends/#weekly_table has Asia cases +4%, deaths +6%...some Asian countries may even have statistics of some value...

Japan statistics cases +15%, deaths +12%...Japan reporting 1,032,833 new cases last week...last 7 days it went up to 1,190,893 cases...(global cases would be -15% from 3,4 million last week to 2,9 million last 7 days..but most countries did give up on testing...). Japan deaths went from 2,179 to 2,437 last 7 days...(Global CoViD deaths decreased from 13,689...to 11,259 last 7 days...excess deaths in general keep increasing...but if you do not test/link for CoViD it is not counted as CoViD deaths...).

https://www.thailandmedical.news/articles/news or https://www.thailandmedical.news/articles/news - https://www.thailandmedical.news/articles/news has lots of updates on Japan/Asia...

A major problem is lack if not stop of testing in "the west"...We hardly have sequencing left. While UK, Ireland, other western hospitals are at breaking point - just like in China, Japan, billionaires owned media, politics, experts focus on China...

My view is the "variant soup" is producing lots of high risk variants...XBB.1.5 from the US (is NOT SARS-3, still using ACE-2 receptors...) is just one of them...Australia may be sharing some variants with "East Asia"...

But-again-if you stop testing there is hardly any sequencing left...Some countries "living/dying with the virus" even give up on waste water/sewage testing....
