Madrid City Hall have announced that they are taking all the ducks from the city’s parks and placing them in a warehouse, to avoid possible infection with bird flu.

Some 700 birds, including 80 peacocks and 50 swans, will be affected in total and the ponds in many parks will be emptied to help prevent the spread of the virus.

Mayor of the city, Alberto Ruiz-Gallardón told the press today that the measure would be taken in 15 days at the latest.

And similar measures are also being taken in other cities across the country, including Murcia.
