right smack in the middle of the usa
this looks interesting because its in the lungs of it victims and its a very strong virus. and it attacks the young like bird flu does..

.
Since Monday night, they've been at Wesley Medical Center which is at capacity with kids who also have the virus. It's the worst outbreak Wesley has seen in three years.

As someone in Wichita who has the respiratory stuff along with my wife, I can tell you this is bad stuff. We have been fighting this for a month, get almost over it, and it comes back again. No fever, actually subnormal most of the time, but all the aches and pains, horrible coughing, and plugged up sinuses. I hope nobody else get it, it leaves you as limp as a wet dishrag.

How long is "quite a while"? Seems like it has been forever and 3 days so far.

Me and my son here in PA have "something" ugly too....

His fever has subsided, we both feel a little better.....but our lungs are just not bouncing back.  It's been a week and we both still have lung issues.... cough and sometimes a mumuring sound when we breathe.  It just won't go away....

Note. ..  he has asthma, I do not.

Another weird thing.... in a family of five, only me and my son caught it.  This despite that fact that I was sneezing and coughing all over my adult daughter who lives with us...... she never got it.

neither did my six yr old grandson ...who catches EVERYTHING...

How is it that it can hit me and my teen son so hard and completely bypass other family members????????????

I was visiting Los Angeles over the holidays and came back with something nasty as well.  Never really felt sick, but coughing and hacking up a storm.  It seemed to get better only to now be producing heavier coughing and enough mucous to make a billy goat puke.

If it lasts much longer, the ol' throat is gonna plenty sore.

I can't wait to see where this all goes.

Just the other day, I was reading the paper, and happened to notice that two entire pages was dedicated to Obituaries.  Scanning the list, most seemed to be 55 and older.  I really would like to know how these folk died.  I would also like to know why, suddenly, there are so many deaths.  The paper never has so many Obituaries at one time (that I've noticed).

And the usual flu season is reportedly mild here in Arkansas so far.

This long-lasting respiratory illness is going on in New York too. I got a cold before Christmas and am still coughing up mucus from my lungs. I know a lot of people who have the same thing. Yuccch!

I don't know what I got, but it came on Monday, and settled in my lungs. Tuesday I went to the doctor and got a presciption for some antibiotics. It is agony to even cough, because the muscles in my abdomine are so sore from coughing.

The doctor cautioned me about spreading it around. But when I'm sick I stay home. It irritates me to no end, that some people consider their job so important, that they will come to work sick and give it to everyone else in the office. You won't see me at work it goes H2H.

I honestly think that alot of people dont feel they can pay the electric bill if they stay home. People like you and I Pookey probably have the ability to stay home while sick but others that may not have leave or the funds..feel like they cant miss one day.......on the other hand..some people dont realize they are sick..I have been told by so many people..its just allergies or sinus...and before you know it they are soooooo sick..either way..I like the social distancing practice

It sounds like a sick ward at my work ! I know the weather has been weird here in Pennsylvania and all, but the bird flu is not the cause or we would see hundreds of deaths.
