   there is a fabulous post by May in the NY state forum with a link to an article and maps of major U.S. bird flyways. the one, "n. american major flyway maps."

It's worth a trip there to read about the Mississippi Flyway and see the maps; that's the big one that goes right down the river through what is now "mumps country." that one short article & map says volumes about our situation.
