The supposed purpose of this forum is to post information and news about bird flu, and to educate people to the dangers if they don't prepare. We even have a new forum to address state issues (where everybody is to behave).

People come here for help, info, sharing, whatever. However, all the politics and behind the scenes shenanigans, posts deleted so they don't have to be answered, or so nobody else will see them and question ... what I don't know, will and has driven away the people who are supposed to be helped. I am still here because I want to help those who stumble on this site. The intrigue has to stop, or NOBODY will stay here. I hope some of you longstanding members know what I am talking about and speak up to save the reputation of the forum. We may not be paying the bills, but without us there would be no forum.

Coming up with rules around here is really no fun.   Having to run this place altogether is something that I tend to regret at times.  Tusuy, if you want to leave, then go ahead...  I have nothing to hide.     
 
Recently, I removed various posts that were placed by a former member and his ilk.   When I grabbed this particular lion by the tail, he was a lot more difficult than what I imagined.   It was  choppin' at me the whole time, so to speak lol.  Apparently, I have to filter through extremist groups behind the scenes along with everything else.   You mention "behind the scenes"?  You have no idea ...
 
We will make sure that posts are not removed.

This is a very throny issue. The issue of religious and religion in hte group has bothered me from time  to time.  I think that most of us are smart enough to know when and if tto  bring religion into the debate. Balanceing test one,
 
1. Does the statement clearly have anything to do with Pandemic Flu or it's prepartion or it's prevention.  If, yes then go to the next step. If no then the statement is not proper and comes under an excluded topic.
 
2. Is religion , faith or beliefs being used to attack, belittle or demean someone else or is the religious component being used to indicated a way of coping with the bird flu.  
 
3. Is the statement extreaneous to the discussion and just a way to push religion.  
 
Albert, as you can see the test is real simple.......................

Hi Albert!
Is there a plan for restoring the pms?  I'd sure there are good reasons for whatever has happened to them but they were a good way for people to talk about things that just concerned them personally, and were not of interest to the whole forum.  Religion could be one of these topics.  Any news on return of PMs would be welcome.  Beth

Hi Beth.  PMs are a huge source of problems.   Once I'm sure that a lot of the problems that I have to deal with behind the scenes are resolved, then they might return.  I don't even like our members emailing one another at the moment.  Making friends outside of this forum is not a wise choice for right now. 
 
I had to deal with a person who claimed to be the Reichsfuhrer SS over the Neo-Nazi extremist group.  Of course, the SS stands for the secret Nazi police, who were the most ruthless of all Nazis.  I believe secret tortures was their forte.  Anyway, these groups still exist and they are coming out of the woodwork.  I don't want the members here to be exposed to them, or befriended by them, via PM.  A few of our members are now friends with this person and they have no idea what he really is.   Muy malo.

Thanks SF.  I believe they are all gone now, but I can't stop them from re-registering.  I can spot them, but it takes a little time.  I don't want to  ferret them out at the member's expense, so I have to remain in my own private hell behind the scenes with them lol.  Believe me, I can handle it.

I'll bet you regret starting this, sometimes!!!  Thank you for doing your best to try and protect people from dangers they are not even aware of! I've been on a LOT of lists and boards over the years for all sorts of types of topics, and just want to say, I've seen some of the best moderating here and I'm really impressed. You cannot please ALL of the people ALL of the time, but you have managed to please a LOT of people! :-)

Leo Laporte the Tech guy says policing a forum is one of the toughest task and  if anybody even looks like a troll they should be shut down ASAP.

Thanks for your hard work, Albert. thanks for this forum. I was reading some remarks on wiki and was amazed at what was passing for information.
