The new site is up and running. We will be implementing the new web design work over the next 24 hours, which means the forum colors will change and we will be adding text, resource links, etc .... So we will see a lot of changes by tomorrow.
If you would like to register early and begin posting, feel free pop over to the new site.

Really nice, now do we need to re-register for this?I assume we can use the same name, can we use the same password? Is this site AFT staying or does the new one replace it? Thanks....

Ruth - You have to register again at the new site. The new site is owned by AFT, but the two sites are going to be completely separate.
Standingfirm, we can add more forums, but we want to keep it as simple as possible to start.

Albert,
Will you be able to transfer everything that is already listed on the individual state forums to the new site?

I like the color scheme the way it is now there - nice and crisp with that white background!
The Halloween black and orange color scheme on this board makes me squint to read - I feel like I'm in a cave.

Looks great! I copied some things in a better format than they were over here, under the South Dakota forum.
Much easier to read

Albert ... can you address that? What is going to be the difference between this site and the new site? Are they going to be the same thing, just different formats? Are we to post everything to BOTH sites or do you want us to focus a certain BF topic area to the new site?? -k

Readymom - The two sites are completely separate. AFT is not going anywhere.... We also have no plans of duplicating the AFT forums. When the new members on the other site want additional "prepping" info, then they can research the AFT site.
The new site is a lot more reserved. We want to hold off on discussing any issues on the new site that pertain to religion, prophecies, guns, weapons, violence .... The new site is geared more toward community planning for state & local administrations, medical community, businesses.... The structure of the new forum is to aid "local planning" efforts. Since each state seems to be creating their own pandemic information sites these days, we wanted to create one site that all of the states could use until their own sites are all up and running, which is the reason for each state preparedness forum.
The only info that we need to transfer from AFT is from the state forums and from the Pandemic FAQs room. Once the info is transfered from the state forums on AFT, we will remove that entire forum.
We need to add to the News Section and the Pandemic Survival Tips section on the sister site, which means we may have to cut and paste old information from Survival Tips on AFT. We need to build up these two rooms on PandemicHelp. Feel free to double post any new content on both sites such as news articles and Pandemic Survival info.
As new members begin to arrive on PandemHelp, then we can simply show them what we know... Our preping techniques lol.
AFT will releaase a PR soon announcing the launch of the new site. Additionally, our search engine rankings on the new site should be indexed within 30 days. Needless to say, we will be generating traffic to the new site.

Thanks Albert... just wanted to clarify that point because I am seeing posts that seem to be 'general news' regarding Romania, etc. and I thought that type of news was to remain here and 'preparation' 'state information', etc. type items were the goal of the new site. Getting me confused isn't too hard to do and I this general type posting was getting me there a little faster!

As long as the news pertains to pandemic flu, it's fine. General off topic news obviously doesn't belong there.
Thanks RM -

nawty, you're not a mod. We don't have any mods that actively participate on this forum... They work behind the scenes.

Albert,
If we are a state coordinator in AFT, will that transfer to the new site? |

Albert, Also, as I am transferring the Nebraska state links that I previously set up in AFT, can I make them "sticky" since they are resource links that would be great to keep posted to the top of the Nebraska thread in the new site as they currently are in the ATF site? |

I know we're short some Coordinators over there at the new site. Any chance that something can be done to notify all the State Coordinators here, and get the blanks filled in over there?

So should we just start moving stuff until coordinators can be found?

Oisanatta, You have to register with new site, first. As soon as you register, then we can change your profile to coordinator. So again, you first need to register on the new site.
TXGirl - Please, feel free to move ANY posts to the new site. We are short several Coords, among other things, so if you could move any other posts, that would be appreciated.
DAX- You're right. Things will take a little bit of time to develop. Within a few weeks, we will probably have an equal amount of new visitors to each site, so the traffic to PHO should pick up soon.

Thanks, Albert. I went ahead and registered last evening, and then this morning I can see the Coordinator transfer was done. Many thanks. What has been helpful for me, too, is to check out the other state sites and to "borrow" some of their helpful resource links....also saw that others had done the same. So, thanks to those other Coordinators! Lincoln, NE is having an open town forum this Saturday (June 3) about BF, and so I will be posting my findings to the Nebraska state thread following the meeting. |

Albert,
I have a request. Is there any way that you could make a coordinators only room at the other site. This way we could ask each other questions, look for advice, or advice another coordinator of something we had found that would benefit their state. Just seems like a good thing to do to keep us from looking silly and helping with the credibility of the site.
Thanks.

TG, we could do this. However, we might have to create the meeting room on AFT instead.
